"Let's go camping!" "What?" "Why?" "Because." "'Venna..." The voices came from a trio of decidedly odd looking beings: Two winged wolves and an even more curious-looking BlueJay/Fox hybrid. The lone female of the group, a winged wolf called Ravenna, looked at each of her friends, and excited look on her face. "Besides, it'll be fun," she continued on, plopping herself down on a log. She looked around, and then lowered her voice. "They're coming. Tomorrow, at sunsrise. The Skydancers are finally going to arrive." The other two looked at each other, and then the Fox/Jay hybrid spoke. "'Venna, what makes you so sure? You've been saying stuff like that for years." "But Niko, this time they'll really be here." Ravenna replied. "Two of them. Just watch, you'll see." The third member of the little group sat down beside Ravenna, and then looked up at the double-stars in the sky. "Hmm..." he murmured, in a light tenor voice. "You know, if we're going to be camping, we'll need supplies. Firewood, flints, bedrolls..." "You can't actually be serious, Shinalon." Niko said, frowning slightly. Shinalon shrugged, his fur rippling slightly. "And why not?" he asked. "It's going to be a beautiful night, and we might as well enjoy it. And who knows, maybe the Skydancers will come." "Yay!" Ravenna said excitedly, bouncing up and down on her seat and clapping her hands. "C'mon, let's go get what we need!" She got up and began racing here and there, picking up sticks and rocks. Vrai followed her, skimming through the air, a large stick held in his powerful beak. "C'mon," Shinalon said quietly to Niko."Let's go and make sure she doesn't get too overzaelous with the preparations... |

In the grey, pre-dawn light the next morning, all three Lithrians were awake, having awoken early in anticipation. "Well?" Niko asked, glancing up at the sky. Ravenna closed her eyes, concentrating; the voices were clearer than ever. "Wait." she said serenely, smiling. "Watch the skies to the..." she paused, and then continued. "Northeast. When the first light comes over the horizon, so will they." "Hmmph." Niko busied himself with making breakfast, warming up some of the stew that had been simmering over the hot coals of the fire. Shinalon gather some water from a near-by stream, setting it up to boil after fishing out a frog or two. Their breakfast was soon ready, and they began to eat, Ravenna barely touching her food. |
