Orlando's Character:

Legolas Greenleaf

A 2,900 year old elvin warrior from Mirkwood.

I highly recommend reading the trilogy for a different perspective on the character of Legolas.
Directer by:  Peter Jackson
Written by:  J.R.R. Tolkien (book), Frances Walsh (screenplay)

Summary:
In ancient times, the Rings of Power were created by the Elven-smith, while Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged in secret the Master Ring -- the One Ring, filling it with his powers so he could control all the others.  But the One Ring was taken from him, and although he saught it throughout Middle Earth, still it remained lost to him.  After many ages, it fell, by chance, to a Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins of the Shire.  On his eleventy-first birthday, Bilbo disappeared and fled the Shire, bequething to his young Cousin Frodo the One Ring and a perilous quest: journey across Middle-Earth, deep into the  shadows of the Dark Lord and destroy the Ring by casting it back into the fires of Mt. Doom--the one place it can be destroyed.

Personal Opinion:
Eeegads, boys and girls...  I don't understand why you're at this site if you haven't seen these films.  This is the role that defined Orlando's career, and what a role it is, mind you.  Even without Orlando, this film is absolutely ground-breaking in its cinematography, directing, screenplay, filming, special effects, acting, and details.  This movie is, for lack of a better term, my passion.  I've been to both midnight showings, dressed up for the second one, saw Fellowship 15 times in theatres, and so far I'm on my 10th showing of Two Towers.  Buy it, rent it...whatever you have to do... See these films.

Release Dates:
Fellowship - Dec. 19, 2001;   Two Towers - Dec. 18, 2002;   Return of the King - Dec. 17, 2003
