April 2003 Non Scale
Victories!
April 2, 2003: I have to thank my wonderful hubby for pointing
this NSV out to me! In the past, before weight watcher's, when that time
of the month would hit, I would turn to food to get through it. There were
times when I'd load up on chocolate candy bars, telling my hubby that I
"needed" those to get through that miserable week. Well, yesterday, through
killer cramps and mood swings, candy was the last thing on my mind. It
never even occurred to me to even grab one candy bar, let alone a whole
pack of them. Instead, I had a 1 point cup of hot cocoa, did my April hula
work out challenge, and then took a hot shower in the evening.:) So this
morning, my hubby told me to remember to journal my NSV:) When I looked
puzzled, he told me I no longer felt like I "needed" junk food to get through
it.
April 2, 2003: I also wanted to thank my hubby for being
my biggest supporter!:) He is my greatest NSV:) He always encourages me!:)
When we go grocery shopping, he is always checking the points on various
items for me!:) He has been right by my side since the first day I started
on program and it really helps me, knowing that I can count on him like
this:))))
April 2, 2003: Last night hubby and I went shopping.
First, I tried on a pair of size 14 women's shorts and they fit!!:))) Then
I tried on a pair of size 12 and they so almost fit!! Another week or two
and they will be zipping up too!!!:)))) But the best one of all, is there
was a shirt in the Junior's department that I fell in love with. Has a
sweet kitten on the front and it says "Good Kitty" and on the back it has
same kitten with a nasty look on it's face and it says "Gone Bad!" LOL
:) I told my hubby I HAD to have that shirt! So, being it was in the Junior's
area, I grabbed an extra large ('cause those sizes still look so dang small!)
and I was going to hang it up by my mirror to encourage
me to work harder to get in to it...but....when I tried it on at home,
to see how small it was.....it FIT !!:)) OMG!!!:)))))) I am wearing it
tomorrow night when we go to see Disney Princesses On Ice!:)
April 3, 2003: My hubby is the BEST!!!:))) He called
me from work today to let me know that the local college is offering an
Egyptian Belly Dancing Class for beginners!!:)) AND he told me to go ahead
and sign up for it too!!!:))) So, I am all set! I start class in June and
I can't wait!!:)))) Told ya he's the BEST!:)
April 4, 2003: Just came back from seeing Disney Princesses
On Ice and it was wonderful!!:))) I saved points today so I could have
cotton candy there too!:) Hubby bought us cotton candy and it tasted great!:)
Felt so good to be able to go out to something like this tonight and still
enjoy some sweets!!:))
April 6, 2003: Went clothes shopping tonight. Could not
find any women's shorts that I liked so I bought a pair of guys jean shorts
- in a Medium!!!:))) Also, hubby bought me the cutest shirt with Eeyore
on it, to wear on our cruise end of the year....bought that in a Medium.....
and I will have to buy another one in a Small... as I am wearing the Medium
NOW and it is loose!! OMG!!!:))))
April 13, 2003: OMG!!! Hubby and I went shopping at Ross
for an Easter dress for me and the BEST thing happened!!! When we found
nothing I liked in a size 16, as that was the size of the last dress I
had tried on a while ago, I tried on a dress I fell in LOVE with but in
a size 12.....and it FIT!!!!:)))))) :::::happy dancing!!!!:::: I have NEVER
owned anything that said size 12 before!!!!!
When I went in to the fitting room, I did not expect this
dress to fit. After slipping it over my head, and putting my arms through
it, I was surprised to find the rest of the dress just falling down in
to place! I was stunned, to say the least!
I covered my mouth with my hands and, with eyes wide,
I walked out of the fitting room to show my hubby. When I saw him, I couldn't
say anything! I just stood there with my hands still covering my mouth!
When the woman who worked there saw me, she said "Oh that looks nice on
you." I still couldn't say anything. I just looked over at her. LOL :)
Seeing the look on my face, she asked what was wrong.
I finally was able to get the words "It's a size 12" to
come out. She just looked at me and said "yeah?" And that's when I said
"I have never worn a size 12 !!!" I could feel the tears coming now!!
Hubby just kept smiling at me and kept asking me if I
liked the dress. I shook my head yes and went back in to the fitting room.
Once inside, I looked back in to the mirror and just cried!:)
While I was getting dressed, my wonderful hubby was telling
the lady all about Weight Watcher's Online! I know he sold her on it too!!:)
LOL :) I called everyone I could to tell them about it and e-mailed my
buddy greenpeace_khm as well, there was NO waiting until the next morning
to share this NSV!!!:))))
Thank you, thank you, thank you Weight Watcher's for this
program!!!:)))))
April 13, 2003: While hubby and I were in the mall later
on in the day, a woman, working in one of the stores, asked me where I
got my "Good Kitty" shirt at! And she was skinny!:) LOL :) Ok, I have never
had a skinny person ask me where I got anything I was wearing before! Blew
me away! LOL :)
April 20, 2003: Easter Day - Breakfast:)
Hubby and I went out for Easter Breakfast today and that's where my latest
NSV comes in:) We went to Country Kitchen on the "spur of the moment."
I ordered scrambled egg beaters, one slice of wheat toast, no margarine
on it, a small bowl of fruit and a cup of coffee. When my order came, I
used 1/2 oz of grape jelly on the toast (love the small jelly packages!)
and I only ate a small amount of the fruit, as the bowl they brought me
was huge! LOL :) I asked my hubby for a pen and I wrote down all the information
I could on my meal and figured it up in my head as I went along too. When
we got home, I immediately used the online points calculator to figure
it all up in my journal and I found that my "guess-timate" was right on
the mark!:) If we had eaten at home, I would have used 4 points for breakfast
that morning. Being we ate out, I expected a lot more but was very happy
to see that I had only used 4 1/2 points for breakfast there! Woo-Hoo!!:))))
NSV for me!!!:))) I passed up the pancakes and other breakfast down fall
items and went for what I knew was right:)))))
April 20, 2003: Easter Day - Big Meal: Being
hubby and I had Easter at home by ourselves, staying on program was no
problem what so ever! Even after having breakfast out that morning:) For
our "big meal," I had 3 ounces of baked ham, 1/2 cup garlic mashed potatoes,
1/2 cup sweet yams, 1/4 whole kernel corn, and an 8 ounce glass of skim
milk:) And that was more than enough for me!!!:) Later on I had two of
the home made Fiber One Chocolate Haystack Cookies as my goodie treat!
They taste exactly like those Reese's Peanut Butter Sticks to me and, at
1 point each, you just can not beat them!:) Later on that evening we had
Boston Cream pie and I figured up that 1/20 of that pie would equal 3 points,
so my wonderful hubby marked the pie in to 10 pieces and then cut one of
those in half and that one was mine:) I had 1/4 cup of fat free chocolate
swirl frozen yogurt on the side for an extra point and it was wonderful!:)
My silver Easter Bunny charm will go on my bracelet now!:)
I LOVE this program!:) I NEVER feel deprived!!:) And I have found that
I NEVER have to go off program, not even for the Holidays!:) Thanks WW!!!:)))
April 22, 2003: my hubby and I were doing the major closet
cleaning, you know "use it or lose it," and
I filled a HUGE moving type box with clothes that are
now way too big for me. Later on I told my hubby that it felt weird to
be getting rid of all my old familiar clothes. LOL :) So, when we went
to the store that night, I bought myself a pair of pajama pants that are
purple and have yellow duckies and bubbles all over them:) I bought them
in a size Small, so I would have them for a while and they could become
"familiar" LOL :) Got home, tried them on and have been wearing them, off
and on, ever since!! OMG a Small fits me now!!! Who would have thought???!!!!:))))))))
April 26, 2003: My wonderful hubby took me away to hotel
room for the weekend as a Reward for hitting the 140's!:))) The room had
a king size bed, a couch, coffee table, small table with two chairs and
a fenced in patio with a table and two chairs on it! It was so big, I couldn't
believe it!!:)))
And it felt so great having time with my hubby where no
one knew where we were, no one could call or stop by, and we could sleep
in a little on Sunday morning without our cats waking us up at home! LOL
:)
That night we decided to hit one of our favorite buffet
restaurants. (The meal was NOT part of the Reward though, as we never use
food as rewards at all.) I ended up only using 4 banked points that night
too! I can't believe how well I did there:)
I knew I wanted the "buffet experience," of being able
to go up a second time, so on my first plate I got: a small piece of chicken,
no skin, small amount of pasta, and one tablespoon of mashed potatoes,
no gravy.
On my second plate I got: a sliver of a sirloin steak
piece, tablespoon of corn, and tablespoon of macaroni and cheese. I didn't
eat more than one bite of the mac and cheese though, as it tasted nasty,
but I still counted it in to my points used.
For dessert I got 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream and I sliced
3 small strawberries on top of it. Yummy!:) I ordered coffee and ice water
to drink:)
I was so proud of myself at the buffet and I am so thankful
to my hubby for our most wonderful weekend, too!!:))) He always makes me
feel so special:)))))
