Let's Get Physical!:)

One of my favorite things, since losing weight, is all the cool stuff that I can do now that I could not do before! So I thought I would start this page to show off all my new found "talents!" LOL:)

If things get tough for you it's my hopes that you come here, find a smile, get a laugh or two and see what kind of things are waiting for YOU at that Goal Finish Line!:) Above all, stay strong and keep going! You CAN do it!:)))

Wall Climbing, June 28, 2003:

The very first time I went Wall Climbing!:)))

I was so nervous that I would not be able to even make it a few inches off the floor and it turns out that I scaled a 25 foot wall my very first try!:))

I went on to climb three seperate parts of the wall that day! This was one of the coolest feelings! I felt like I could do anything I wanted to that day!:))

A few weeks later we went back with our good friend, Kimmi, and we all spent 2 1/2 hours climbing there!

I am really looking forward to our next visit to Dyno-Rock!!:)))

Belly Dancing, March 2003 & On Going:

I think this one surprised me most of all! :))

Who would have thought, back in March of 2003, when I first started working out at home to Basic Moves Belly Dancing video, by Veena and Neena, that I would continue on with belly dancing?!:)

But by June of 2003 I was enrolled in to my first live belly dancing class at the local college here and have not stopped taking classes in it since!:))

To date I have performed in two Guest Talent Shows (on cruises) and am well on my way to becoming the Professional Belly Dancer that I long to be!:)))

Running My First 5K, April 18, 2004:

Ok, I should tell you that, before starting Weight Watchers. I was the person who would tell you that I would only run on two conditions:

1. That someone was chasing me - or -
2. If I was chasing the ice cream truck! LOL:)

So when our good friend, Kimmi, mentioned running to me, I thought she was insane! LOL:)

I started out slow, using the Couch To 5K Training Program found at Cool Running.Com and, to my amazement, I found myself actually looking forward to heading outside for my morning run!:)

I was so nervous the day I showed up to run my first 5K! Luckily my wonderful husband and Kimmi were there to calm me down!

I took my place with the other runners, started my cassette tape, and took off with just finishing the race in mind!:) And finish I did!:)))

My time was 40:09 and I won the third place trophy (pictured here) for my age group!:))) Talk about an exciting way to start!!:))) I am already looking forward to my next 5K in June!:))

Running My Second 5K, May 8, 2004:

Hubby and I headed out to Fossil Ridge, in Fort Worth, for the Buffalo Boogie 5K Run early on Saturday morning!:)

It's a chip timed run (where you wear an electronic chip on your sneaker) so one time was my actual time (the time I passed the starting & finish line, via the chip info that's sent back) and then you also got to see the other time, according to the clock they start once the starting pistol goes off. If you are near the back of the pack, the second time will be higher due to the time it takes you to get up to, and across, the starting line. I found I love chip timed races now!:))

The pictures here are (from top left to right): me at the Nature Refuge when we first arrived, the start of the race (I am the second one in a white shirt from the left, wearing the black baseball cap), Nearing the finish line and finally crossing the finish line!:))

My actual chip time was 40:09, same as my last 5K was in April!!:)) My starter clock time was 40:27:))

The beginning of this race was a breeze, as it was all downhill, but coming back was another story! Those hills really gave me a work out, let me tell ya! LOL:)

Add to that the fact that we had to walk 600 hundred meters each way, to and from the starting line, and you know why I am ready for a nap right now! LOL:)

This Nature Refuge was a beautiful place to run at! There were Buffalo and Prairie Dogs there, along with some of the most beautiful wildflowers (pictured below) as well!:))

My next 5K is on Saturday, June 3rd!:))

Running My Third 5K, June 3, 2004:

Here I am with Kimmi at a weekly night run! This was the first night run I have done! It was along the Trinity River so, of course, it was beautiful!:)

I ran this 5K in 38:35, thus beating my old time by 1 minute and 34 seconds!!!:))) Woo-Hoo!!:)))

Like always, after finishing the race herself, Kimmi then came back to run the rest of the race with me:)

It's such a great feeling to have this kind of friend by your side that last mile or two!:)

More Adventures Yet To Come!:)))
