January First Found me in Germany! I went to Germany for a week to see Margaret Ryan from Rock Island (She is on exchange in Southern Germany) Hana Cleaveland came too! (She is on exchange in Northern Denmark) The three of us had a great time updating each other on what we have done and where we have been and whats to come. Also on what we misssed from the good old QC! I think Whiteys and Happy Joes where the number one and two!

I had a "not so fun" train ride home from Germany...My first train was running late so the second train I was suppose to be on left before I arrived at the  train station...It was confusing, frustrating, and long but I got bumped up to First Class Thayls TGV! After that there is not much more complaining coming from my mouth! My first host dad and sister and new second host sister all met me at the raining train station in Liege. We went to the Rue de Strivay.... Lugged my suitcases and four extra boxes into the van and we were on our way to my new host family's house ( it's only a hilltop away) . The two families all ate dinner together. I went up to my new room and tried to unpack when I was called downstairs....I came down the stairs and my host mom wanted me to watch some home video....However  as soon as I sat down my first host familiy started cracking up. Of course I am like "ok what did I sit in what is on my face etc..." until five minutes later when they are now in hysterics did I realize they are all in the PJS! To my surprise we had one big slumber party! My first host family just wanted to make sure that my first night in my new house would ok! My Second host family is awesome! Daniel and Angelique Varrasso, they have a little daughter Yaille who is 7 is she absolutely adorable!

My first host mom invited me to go skiing with her in France! I was so excited! however the day before I was to leave.......
I went to Maastrict with Angelique and a friend of hers and one of my exchagee friends. We had the best time hitting all the after holiday sales...After we dropped off my friend...I was on my GSM (Cellphone) to Daniel explaining what kind of pizza I like when...I heard Anglieque and her friends gasp as I heard the sound of a car accident! A car was supposed to stop but didn't, so it hit an oncoming speeding car...which then spun into the front of our car... which then got pushed into another lane of traffic and got hit from behind. Talk about the wrong place and the wrong time!!!! Four cars, eleven people! I hadn't eaten much that day so of course I  pulled my typical dizzy fainting trick.... I did however hurt my back and that was rather painful... My first ride in an ambulance was awful! They took every terrible road in Belgium so that made my immobolised back feel "O so much better!" To make matters worse they put an oxygen mask on me and kept asking me questions and I couldnt respond ONE because the neck brace,TWO because of the mask, and THREE I dont know what they were exactly saying! So we get to the "O so big and electriclymodern hopsital" (I am being sarcastic!) My host dad was with me the enitre time thank goodness! However I was a little confused the days before he kept telling me how good my French was and so on ...and now he was like "She doesn't speak or understand French"  and I was like wait a second yes I do...He was just saying that so he could be with me and explain everything....However he had to eat his words because my nurse was in the choir with me and she was like "No no no this Meghan she speaks and understands French!"  My second host father found out that I know lots of Belgians !  Anyway they did a complete X-ray nothing was broken..when the doctor examined me I had severe abdominal pain from where the seat belt was...They were worried about my organs so up to Labor and Delivery for me to have a sono-gram! Organs are all fine and no Baby!  lol!  So they loaded me up with strange European pain killers and sent me home! I was out of school for a week! I went to an Osteopath the next week...she was Russian...so her french was as good as mine!  lol!  She explained all my muscles have immobolised my spine so she had to make slight adjustments so they will relax and free my spine!

I also had to go to court and give my vicitm witness statement! Legally because I am American I had to give my testimony in English....I could of done it in French...but they had a Translator there and everything! So that was interesting learning how the Belgian Law works!

My first host mom had to go on the  skiing trip by herself! She brought back beautiful pictures of the snow and the sun! OH!!!!!!!!SNIF SNIF but at least I am healthy and fine who knows I probably would of fallen and really injured myself skiing!

The next weekend I went to the North Sea swith my Choir for a little workshop/vacation! I had a great time. The other exchange students in the choir came as well. Katherine from Canada and I rented a sidebyside two seated bike and we biked along the boardwalk. We also had a little talent show...more of a Belgian Saturday Night Live but it was still entertaining!  We did learn five new songs...those are also going on the cd that we have been recording since December! who knows when we will finish it!

My January has been very interesting and excting with changing families and getting to know and bond with them! My first ambualnce ride and court appearance! Life is great!
