My Updates.....
Saturday June 14th 2003
THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!!!!!!! Yes that would be the day I leave with my best friends for the trip of our life! aka EURO TOUR! My suit case is packed and I am ready to go... but I dont leave for another 7 hours! so I thought I would give you a little update while I was waiting.... ITs so confusing right now... I am getting excited to see everyone again, but in the next few weeks I will be saying some of the hardest goodbyes of my life.  It hasnt totally hit me yet, I mean I have had my last choir practice, that day Heli from Finland and Katherine from Canada who are also in the choir came over and we spent the day baking cookies as alittle thankyou for the year gift. I mean one night everyweek for four hours and all the concerts I have met some very neat people. Yesterday was my last day at school, my french teacher is retiring this year. He has been absolutely amazing this year, He is also the theatre director so maybe thats how we hit it off so quickly, He wrote a beautiful letter which hit me where it hurts! the water faucets turned on as I sat and realized whats happening....and O how I dont want this year to end! Thursday I gave my Rotary presentation, My club was so proud of thier "little American" I covered everything in my speech from our Four Founding Fathers from September 11th to The war in Iraq as well as the Mississippi River, John Deere,Alleman High school, Mullane Irish Dancing and my family. They gave me a nice big book on Belgium and of course thier club flag. Again I came home and really thought of all the I have done this year, I will be going back to my friends and family who really can not even begin to understand what I have done and been through this year. Its really been so amazing and has changed me alot . Thinking back to the girl from Illinois who came in august.... Wow I dont know where she went! No I have definatly changed for the better! And I have my host families school friends and most  of all my exchange friends to thank for that! I love you guys! Well I need to get going... So thats my little update for now! Talk to you all later with my update fomr EURO TOUR! Bisous- Guila

First off quick apology note...No I really havent dropped of the face of the earth...Yes I promise I will have lots and lots of new photo pages in the next few weeks!

Ok so much has happened I will go in reverse order. Last Monday night I changed to my third and last family....I really cant get over how fast this year has gone. It seems just like yesterday when I got off the airplane in Brussels! Anway yes my new family is absolutely wonderful, Anne and Michel are my mom and dad they are both physical therapist and their office is connected to the house  ( most doctors and medical people all have their place of work right next to thier homes kind of different but it works!) Delphine and Marie 16 and 12 are my two new host sisters. They are great as well.Again I am the oldest in the family...Its so weird not to be the baby in the family! Yes, So Monday after school I was the "Nomad"and wandered into a new house and new family!

The day before that, is when my REAL mom and dad flew home! snif! We had an amazing time it was really good to see them after 8 months of only e-mail.  I arrived in Ireland and met them in the airport... apparently I was the 334th  person to come out of customs!lol! While in Ireland we covered almost everything! We went around the Ring of Kerry, we stopped in on the World Championship Irish Dancing (We got to see Peggy&Mary Alice Mullane but Mike had already gone back to the states) I got to kiss the Blarney Stone on Easter Sunday! We went to Cork and then from there we took a train into Dublin, We saw the Play Twelve Angry Men! Took a tour of Dublin and then headed back to Cork. From there we headed up through Limerick and Galway to the Cliffs of Mohr and Doolin! It was all so beautiful and I very much so enjoyed myself!  From Ireland to Belgium was are next trip, My host families were all excited to meet my Mother and Father they worked on thier english skills just for the occasion. My first host mom and her family took us all to Normandy France for a few days, That was just incredible, all the history that has taken place there! D-day beaches and all the Museums. From there we met up in Paris with my second host family. We went up in the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Mont Mart, the next day we went to the Castle of Versialles....I didnt think we would ever get my dad out of there! Then is was back to Beligum for a few last nights together... we had a big dinner with everyone....My three host families and my Mother and Father. It was a riot to see everyone together and share stories about me....Not all of them were true...but I will let them slide! lol!

Backing up even farther in the month of April.....around the 9th...I went to Greece with my 6eme class. It was sooooooo beautiful especially the Islands, the sandy beaches, the white houses with blue shutters and then not to mention the beautiful blue sea! we started off in Athens and worked our way down the Islands. We went to the Delphi 's and saw all the anicent greek mytholgy ruins. We went to the Island of Mykano, very beautiful! and Santarni Volcanic Island! Its just such the perfect vacation spot! Yeah Greece and Ireland are definately the highlight!

Closing words I guess....Ummm Yeah cant believe its been 9 months already, I have had the time of my life! I dont want to have to say goodbye! but Yet I cant wait to see everyone back home in 76 Days! Crazy!

Love and miss you all!
