This is a little poem I wrote when my grandpa passed away. Tragedy brings out the author in our family, maybe. |
Tribute to Grandpa Streaky *All in italics are bible psalm quotes, property of their respective authors. The clouds parted as light passed through them And entered into Heaven’s courtyard It took the form of man And man saw God. I praise you, God, for you raised me up…from Sheol, you kept me from going down to the pit. There was silence As servant beheld his master And master reviewed his servant Though he already knew him to be sincere. Then the master opened the gates And servant followed his master through And they walked together. Next to me… None shall they falter. Through sky after sky They walked the expanse Between life and death And man recalled for his master A life, a life of innocence Flawed only by the presence Of original sin And the master listened To an autobiography of the sort That perhaps a saint might rival And a saint alone. I have walked without blame. In the Lord I have trusted. They finished where they had started And man beheld the invincible city of legend He looked to the Master, and the Master saw his query The gates of Heaven opened, and the loyal one was saved As the light of salvation fell upon him And the Lord smiled. |
