Fun loving Big Brother 2 star Nathan ‘Marty’ Martin was a winner on the hit TV series, although he finished second. He won the heart of his lively housemate Jessica Hardy and thousands of fans for his quirky humour and amazing energy.

Marty planned to head back to the bush and help hi dad run cattle in Western Australia after Network Ten wrapped the show, but his plans were soon put on hold.

“The past few months have been an incredible journey,” says Marty, 20. “I had no idea the show was so popular and that it would turn my life upside down.”

He’s made numerous TV appearances – including one Burkes Backyard with his true love Jessica – strolled the red carpet at VIP events, been guest DJ at nightclubs and hosted charity functions.

Now Marty’s about to host a new kids program called Islanders on Nickelodeon cable TV. And the best part is, says Marty, he can be himself.

“I’m a big kid at heart, so it’s going to be great,” says Marty. “It’s like a kids’ version of Survivor. Twenty children will be taken to a mystery island where they’ll be involved in a variety of tasks over five days.

“Instead of groups there will be 10 teams of two, competing in a series of fun games testing athletic ability, teamwork and imagination in the quest to become ruler of the island. They will also learn basic survival skills.

“One of the games is called ‘Soak the host’ so I expect to be very much part of the action and that’s the attraction to me.”

The show, which goes to air early nextyear, resulted from a Streets Ice Cream promotion entered by 30,000 children.

These days Marty is sporting a new close-crop hairdo he had done to raise $1000 for the Bali Victims appeal… Jessica’s brother Billy hardy was among those killed.

“It’s been a really, really tough time for Jessica and her family, but they’ve showed incredible courage through it all,” he says.

Marty and Jessica were inseparable in the house and are barely apart now.

Marty says he sees himself one day settling with 25-year-old Jessica – and his catttle dogs – on a property in the Gold Coast hinterland.

“We’ve become much closer and our feelings towards each other only grew stronger outside the house.

“I think it’s true love.”
