Madison Hope Chinese School
Special Chinese Classes Schedule for Fall 2005

September 10- December 10, 13 Weeks

Special Chinese Classes are specially designed for children who love to explore Chinese language and Chinese culture. The program has been running for about five years since it started in summer Y2000. We are so encouraged by children’s great achievement and high enthusiasm from parents and children.  Amazingly, Children can sing many Chinese children's songs and can say many Chinese words with perfect tone! Children’s handwritings have been much improved through all the practice.

Our dance classes accepted many invitations to perform at various civic and cultural events. They performed at UW Memorial Theater for the last four years in Chinese New Year Talent Shows, a few times in Civic Center for Children’s Arts Festival and “Kids Cross Road” event, at St. Mary Hospital Elderly home, at the Moon Festival Celebration for the Mayor and some Chinese community groups, at a Celebrate Youth Day at our new Monona Terrace Convention Center, at “Call for Peace” in the front of our Capitol. They also performed three times for International Adoption Citizenship Day! The Dance classes have become quite polished after so many performances and it is a real pleasure to watch them perform for parents! Through all these activities, children not only learn Chinese language and dance but also, most important, to build their little rich cultural heritage!

We will work even harder to improve the quality of our program and hope the parents and our young students enjoy the program as much as we did in the past.

What children will learn in our Special Chinese Classes?

Children will still carry on learning pinyin (Chinese phonetic system), the names of the objects, simple sentences and basic strokes of Chinese characters, nursery rhymes, children's songs, play games etc.  SCC Two and Three children will start to learn Chinese handwriting. SCC Four children have been learning handwriting for about two years and have performed amazingly well. We will focus on using real objects in the class to make the class more vivid and more attractive. Our teachers will speak Chinese only with children in the class. We will Form a “Waist Drum Team” for age of 8 or above children to learn traditional Chinese Waist Drum. This is a fascinating program and I believe it will be a very first Waist Drum Troop in US!

So, it is a good exercise for the arms and the legs! Let's have a try! Please go to the link "Waist Drum TroopProposal" for more details. Let’s have a try!
