| FERTILITY SPELL Ingredients: * a cut-out picture or drawing of a butterfly * an almond * a long chili pepper * a lock of hair from the man and woman who wish to conceive. * white cotton fabric, a sewing needle and thread Time: the night of the new moon Traditionally the almond symbolized female/Goddess powers and the pepper,male/God powers. The almond is also believed by many Italian traditions to protect against female disorders and the 'corno' or pepper in this case male disorders. It is still customary for the bride and bride-groom to hand out 'bonbonniere' to their wedding guests (a small keepsake with candy wrapped in tulle). This custom evolved from the bride receiving candy-coated almonds, commonly called 'confetti' to ward off infertility. This is a very simple spell. The cut-out of a butterfly symbolizes contacting souls. In this case a soul that wishes to incarnate. Make a a little pouch with the white fabric just large enough to contain the above-mentioned items. Place both locks of hair, the pepper, the almond and the butterfly in the pouch. Sew it closed, all the while focusing on your intent to conceive a child. Place it under the couple's bed where it will not be disturbed. Increase your husband's libido by adding crushed coriander seeds to his morning coffee. To further assist in inviting a new soul into your life: Skyclad and under a full moon, rub jasmine oil onto your belly and into a silver candle. Light the candle and hold it up to the moon as you say: "Mother Goddess of the Moon Bless me with your fruitful glow As I stand in your ripe light May a willing soul enter me tonight" Carry the candle inside, being careful not to let the flame blow out and then make love with your partner in the candle light. Colour of the day: Amber Incense of the day: Poplar If you walk the beach during the summer months, collect any smooth bits of glass you find among the rocks. In ancient times, this sea-glass was known as a mermaids™ mirror bits, and was considered good luck for the beachcomber. Often mermaids were depicted holding a mirror and a comb, symbols of Venus, the goddess of beauty and fertility. Venus was said to have sprung fully grown from the sea. Her Greek name, Aphrodite, literally means foam-risen. Place the sea-glass you find in a little green bag with a piece of red silk cut in the shape of a heart. As you sew the bag closed, say: This bag I sew, fertility, A child will come from me. Fecund Venus, I pray, Abundant life come my way. This spell will work equally well if you seek fertility of another sort. Just change the word child above to creativity, or abundant garden, or whatever it is you seek.
