Mel Savoie: title - Pieces Of Sand
                                                         (5 stars!)

Set in Philadelphia. Seventh Street had long been known as The Seventh. Young men in suits and carrying briefcases had been disappearing on Tuesday nights.
Detective Lieutenant Raymond "Ray" Innez pulled together enough circumstantial evidence to convince the boss that they had a possible serial killer. But when his partner, while playing decoy, disappears in front of several police observers, Ray ended up in cardiac arrest. One of the other patrolmen from that night, Elliott Jeroldson, took up his own investigation. Then when Jeroldson disappeared, aid was called in, in the form of Sheriff's Deputy Charley Banyon, now with Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. He had been a Commander of a CIC (Counterintelligence Corp) in the military. With a selected group and some evidence found on a sidewalk, the intelligence team  sets out to find the  killer!

More is going on in the story than I told in this synopsis. Author Mel Savoie adds in a few sub-plots to keep his readers engrossed in the novel! You know right away who the killer is, but the author shows much knowledge in police and military procedures.

This book-reviewing thing is getting more, and more difficult.  Not because the reading is hard to do..that is a pleasure.but how does one put into words just how great, and wonderful a book is?  Words just seem so insignificant after reading something as riveting as PIECES OF SAND.
But somehow I will try, as I want everyone to know about this book. I do have one warning; it would be to your advantage to stay away from South Seventh Street, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Especially if you are a young business man who happens to carry a brief case.  It seems that such young men are disappearing.
Disappearing literally right in front of people's eyes.  And there are no clues as to what is happening to them.  But whatever is happening to them cannot be good.

Mr. Savoie has brought together characters from different parts of the country, from different backgrounds, and with different interests into a mind-blowing story that you cannot stop reading.  This is a skillfully written and compelling story.  His characters are living, breathing, people whom you just have to know more about.

When I read Mr. Savoie's first book THE PRACKTL AFFAIR I honestly thought that he could never top himself, as it was such a great book. But he has outdone himself with PIECES OF SAND.

This is a psychological thriller that draws the reader into the dark and evil mind of a serial killer.  A serial killer who perhaps is justified in feeling the way that he does, or perhaps is so sick that he can't control what he does, or perhaps just plain evil.  You make up your own mind on that one, but believe me which ever way you go, you aren't going to forget him for a very long time.  The story is spell binding and totally captivating.

This book is destined to make it to the top.  The story is so well written, and so well thought out that it cannot do anything other than that.  Mel Savoie has a very, very bright future for himself in the world of best sellers.  I certainly hope that he presents us with a lot more of his work.  He definitely is first class, and I absolutely want to read more, and more, of his work.  You will too.   Especially after reading PIECES OF SAND.
Mel Savoie has once again captivated his audience with another fascinating mystery, "Pieces of Sand."  Once began, I couldn't put the story aside.  You definitely want to begin this tale with plenty of time to finish.  It's a fast paced plot, so time will run away from you.  Looking for a thrilling mystery, then you've found the perfect one.

Other Reviewers are calling Wordbeams' newest suspense thriller, PIECES OF SAND, a fast-paced, unrelenting test of wits and wile. I see dozens of manuscripts that purport to be thrillers, but Mel Savoie's stand out because the detail was absolutely fascinating. Only someone who's had a background in criminal investigation could write such a convincing story.
I'm confident readers will feel the same way. Not is his book only filled with fast paced excitement, he's also managed to give the reader a rare inside glimpse into the criminal justice system. His stories hook the reader and won't them let go until the last scene.
PIECES OF SAND follows the story of deranged religious zealot Jacob Rellison in South Philadelphia, who is kidnapping young business men off the street. The press calls him the Stealth Stalker since he leaves no evidence or witnesses. The Philadelphia Police Department's top homicide detective team investigate but one is uncannily kidnapped at the scene of decoy operation and the other suffers a heart attack. West Palm Beach Deputy Sheriff Charley Banyon is drawn to Philadelphia where he offers his services using his special police intelligence techniques. Just as another young man is claimed by the Stealth Stalker, and with no leads or evidence, and under pressure from the Mayor and the Governor, the Police Chief gives Banyon one week to solve the case. What follows is a hectic five day chronicle of a unique investigation that eventually identifies Rellison as the Stealth Stalker and discovers forensic evidence that uncovers his unique ability to stalk his victims and escape undetected. During the final frantic hours, Banyon and his team locate the Stalker's den and a furious minute by minute death duel ensues.
