Embrace of Darkness
Originally Written: February 17th, 2006
I awaken in darkness
Cold metal around my wrists
A damp chill surrounding me
Making my skin crawl
I lift my weary head
Peering through the blackness
My eyes cannot pierce it
No matter how hard I strain
Darkness presses against me
Caressing my skin
Sinfully seductive
Sending chills down my spine
A candle bursts into light
Pushing the darkness back
But it still threatens
Trying to press ever closer
Insistent, demanding
Trying to entice the light
To seduce it
Then destroy it
The darkness shifts
A form steps out
Beautiful in his danger
His dark hair covering his face
I try to pull away
The chains hold tight
Fear begins to grip my chest
As he stops in front of me
I struggle against the binds
A sharp pain comes from my wrists
The skin is already raw
He lifts his head
The silky hair falling away
His eyes meet mine
A cold smile touching his lips
My breath catches in my breast
His eyes are the palest blue
Dangerous and deadly
But heartbreakingly beautiful
He lifts a pale finger
Touches my cheek
I can't pull away
No matter how hard I strain
The metal tears at my skin
Blood drips off my fingers
Pooling at my feet
His palm connects with my face
Snapping my head back
Pain shoots through me
His wicked laugh fills the air
Washing me in coldness
I glare into his eyes
His impossibly pale eyes
And see the darkness within
His hand lifts back up
I jerk away
He caresses my face
His touch is like fire
But he soothes the pain away
His fingers gentle against my skin
I find myself leaning in
Enjoying his touch
Craving more
I fight against the feeling
But I can feel myself falling
My light rushes to meet his dark
My skin begs for his touch
A simple caress lights my flame
He knows I am his
Forever his
Without a word
He blows out the candle
The darkness comes crashing
Crushing me under the weight
Before I can scream
Or cry out in despair
His lips are on mine
The flame in my soul flares
Destroying all thought
Leaving only feeling
I leave my world behind
As I willingly fall
Deeper and deeper
Into the embrace of darkness
