A walk down the aisle...
The back of the hall was nice and cool and smelled wonderful! I didn't mind waiting here for everyone to arrive - not at all. The kitchens were right beside me, so if I got hungry within the next 15 minutes, I could run in there for a quick snack. *grin*
That would explain the wonderful smell... Yummm... chocolate. I guess that's from the fondue for the chocolate covered strawberries?
Tip tap of the shoe against the carpet. Didn't make much of a noise, so I didn't have to worry about getting annoyed with the sound. The action was keeping me nice and calm.
Actually, for some odd reason or another, I wasn't very nervous. Not at all. About the only thing I was worried about was whether or not my ringbearer would hold out until after the ceremony - he had a VERY queasy stomach... Poor kid.
Better not puke, or I'll string him up by his toes!
(Note: He did a marvelous job, and didn't walk off until during the signing of the certificates - where he quietly walked to the back of the hall, into the washroom, and did his little business silently. Then he walked back and took his place back at the front.) *smile*

The wait did seem like forever, but it was actually only about 15mins before everyone was seated and the music started. Nearly right on time too! It was supposed to get going at 6pm, and here it was 6:07pm. I was very impressed.
Out of the little crack left in the door (for air? I dunno) I could see every member of my wedding party walk proudly through the front doors and to the front of the aisle. I could also see my Uncle, who was directly in front of my hiding spot, adjusting his tie twenty times or so, before finally, it was my turn, and he came and let me out of the back room.
Walking down that aisle was like I dream. I'm very proud to say that I didn't really focus on WHO was walking me down the path to matrimony - so I wasn't teary eyed about it not being my dad.
In fact, after my little talk to G-d the night before, I had pushed back my father's abscence to the back of my mind, and was determined to not let it spoil my day.
I was determined. It held out for quite a while too - until my sister's poem and the special gift later in the evening. But by then, the most important (special) part was over and done with.
So down the aisle we go - at a nice pace. None of that fancy footwork to confuse the hell out of a bride or nothing... just nice, slow steps.
And my G-d, did Dennis ever look beautiful to me.
Now, here's a little secret that I must share with you. Once I was handed over (given away) by my uncle - once I locked eyes with my friend, lover and soon to be husband, I lost all recollection of there being a wedding service going on....
I may even need to get a guest "speaker" (writer?) come on here to give you details about the ceremony, 'cause in all truth and honesty, all I really remember is the Pastor's voice and Den's bright brown eyes.
And the love that was reflected in them.
Of course, we did shake ourselves out of this reverie for a few minutes, in order to say the proper "I do's" and "I will's" - but other than that... well.. we were pretty much lost in each other's eyes.
But supposable, or so the crying bridesmaids and astonished groomsmen tell me, we were perfect - and such a heartfelt set of vows nor such a touching ceremony will be seen for quite some time.
Most of them said that they could have walked right out on us, and we wouldn't have noticed - that's how much in love we were. Intent only on each other, and dedicated our lives to each other.
Pronounced as Husband and Wife. There, we did it.
So, I guess it went pretty well. *grin*
Of course, the signing of the certificate gave me a bit of trouble - first of all, because it meant that I'd have to break contact with my new husband's eyes - and secondly - well... I wasn't quite sure if I was to sing my new name or my old one.
Duh...
(old one, of/co.) *grin*

And we were then introduced - the new couple, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Fulop.
Of course, the crown went wild. :) I mean, who wouldn't after THAT kind of good show, huh?
