Who wrote it? Me, Lynda Mayfield
What’s it about? You’ll have to read it.
When is it? One year after the marriage, all in the dark.
Where? Where else, IFF
Why did I do this? Number one reason-I got bored at work, and Amanda came knocking with Lee right behind her.
Number two reason-To fulfill my part of Tuesday’s chat room challenge. See! More than one page!! It’s easy!!!
Disclaimer: WB and Shoot The Moon own the characters, not me. I put them back the way I found ‘em.
Dedication and thanks-To the Gutter Gals for being, well, in the gutter w/ me. Especially Chel whose penchant for getting things written supersedes my own. And also to Judy, you know who you are…I hope you enjoyed this, and I know, not enough sex, but that’s the best I can do.
‘Nuff said, enjoy!!

Lee was doing it again. Amanda looked away, then looked back at him. He was still giving her that award-winning grin. The one that said he loved her, and that he needed her. She was smiling too now, and time seemed to stop for them as they looked into each other’s eyes. She was so drawn to him. Whenever he smiled like that, he won her complete attention.
The problem was that they were in the Q-Bureau, and supposed to be working. Staring at each other from across the room could take up a good portion of the day. She might as well ask him what he’s thinking…that would get the grin to stop, and thus the staring, and they could get the work done and go home.
“Lee,” Amanda said through her grin, “What are you giving me that smile for now?”
Lee stopped grinning, “Is this better?”
Amanda stopped smiling, too, “It’s better, but it doesn’t give me the answer I wanted.”
“Amanda,” Lee began, “We’ve been married for a year now, right?”
“Our anniversary was last week. We had a great time,” Amanda commented, “Of course you’re right.”
“The fact that we’ve kept that a secret this long amuses me,” Lee said, “And I can’t help smiling at my wife. You’re what makes me happy.”
“You make me happy, too,” Amanda said. She never figured a man like Lee would tell her something like that, but she’d learned a few things since they’d gotten married.
“So, can’t I express that?” Lee questioned.
“Yes, but we aren’t getting any work done,” Amanda, always a hard worker, pointed out.
“I don’t want to get any work done,” Lee said, rising and kneeling in front of her at her desk. Unavoidably, like the sun revolving around the Earth, they began a kiss that continued as far as they let their passion take them.
Amanda broke the kiss first, with a firm push on Lee’s shoulders, “We can’t continue like this.”
“You are absolutely right,” Lee agreed. He got up and locked both locks on the Q-Bureau door, “Now, we can continue.”
Amanda laughed, “No we can’t, we have work to do!”
“Quit telling me that. What’s Billy going to do, fire us? His best team?”
Amanda laughed.
“What can Francine do? Eavesdrop and then tell on us? Kind of hard to prove something you only heard,” Lee said, caressing Amanda’s face with the index finger of his right hand. He was standing behind her now.
“Lee, we should go home and do this,” Amanda protested lightly.
“Nah,” Lee said, “Here’s more fun.”
“So it is,” Amanda said, closing the file in front of her and turning her chair around to face Lee, “Let’s do it.”---Gutter Gals, isn’t it nice for Amanda to just give in to what she wants for once, and not torture/nag Lee???-Ed.
“Gladly,” Lee said.
They used the vault, locking themselves in for further privacy, so hopefully no one would hear them. Earlier that morning, Lee had managed to bring a blanket and some other mood enhancing items upstairs without anyone noticing.
Lee had managed a rather comfortable position where he was sitting on a blanket on the floor; with Amanda straddling him…he thought he was in heaven. Amanda knew she was in heaven.
All the conditions were perfect. Lee had lightly scented candles burning. The aroma was a further turn on. In the main room, Lee had found a Jazz station and had turned it up to medium volume so they could hear it through the vault door. Life at that second was perfect.
The discarded clothes were everywhere. Socks, hose, shirts, jewelry too, but not their wedding rings, or Amanda’s heart pendant.
Lee and Amanda were on their way, and very close to, a mutual climax when someone started knocking on the vault door. They stopped, and hoped the knocker would go away.
“Shit!” Lee said in a loud whisper.
“Get dressed fast,” Amanda said, starting to do so herself.
“I’ll try,” Lee said, trying to get his still hard manhood to relax. He reached over and put out the candles with his fingers.
“Oh My Gosh,” Amanda said as her pantyhose ripped.
“Oh baby, what a view,” Lee said, as he watched her bending over and not managing very well.
“Lee! Amanda!” Billy’s familiar voice came through the vault.
“Shut up and get dressed,” Amanda hissed at Lee, who had just put on his T-shirt and underwear and still looked quite disheveled.
“I am,” he hissed back.
“Are they here or not, Billy,” the irritated voice of Dr. Smyth reached them.
“Maybe they stepped out for coffee. Sometimes they work best out of the office.”
“Isn’t that the truth,” Amanda remarked dryly as she slipped her other shoe on.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Lee asked, feigning hurt feelings.
“You know what that means,” Amanda shot back. Both were grinning, “Here, here’s my comb from my pocket, let me get your hair right.”
“Okay,” Lee agreed.
“I’m getting the combination for that safe right now,” Dr. Smyth said. They heard a resounding ‘Clunk’ as the Q-Bureau door was slammed shut.
“Okay, let’s go,” Amanda said.
“Billy didn’t leave,” Lee said, matter-of-factly.
“We have to go out there,” Amanda said, determined, “Just don’t let him in here.”
“He’ll know what we were up to anyway,” Lee said. Amanda had to agree that the vault now smelled like berries, and there was nothing they could do about it.
“He’ll wait us out,” Amanda mentioned.
“Yea,” Lee agreed reluctantly.
Together, and with their faces comported seriously, they exited the fault. Billy stood there, fuming.
“You were, uh, looking for us Billy?” Lee asked.
“More importantly, Dr. Smyth was looking for you and he’ll be back momentarily,” Billy said, taking in his two agents. His nose twittered like a rabbit’s as the aroma of the candles leaked into the room, “What were you two doing in there??”
“Airing out the vault,” Lee said quickly.
“What?” Billy asked, “Why the music?”
“Y’know, a little music is good, helps keep you awake during a boring task,” Amanda pointed out.
“Uh huh,” Billy said, stepping around his two agents, “And should I have the lab analyze that blanket in there for any foreign substances?”
“Ahh, no, Billy, really, c’mon,” Lee said, stalling. That would be bad, very bad. Lee began sweating nervously.
“Sir, it’s for our feet,” Amanda interjected, smiling broadly. She hoped she could convince him.
Billy didn’t even bother to speak, so Amanda took advantage.
“Yes sir, our feet, you see, my shoes were bothering me, and Lee’s were tied to tight or something, and the floor’s awful cold in there…poor venting I guess…we couldn’t have our toes getting frostbite while we took care of the filing could we? I mean, we were just being practical,” Amanda rambled.
“Practical,” Billy said. He eyed the closed Q-Bureau door, “I know you two have something going on more that just being partners. It’s been getting more obvious over time…”
Billy was cut off by, Dr. Smyth’s return, “Hello, chickies. What were the two of you doing in the vault? I admit it smells better in here. Must be King’s womanly touch.”
“Yes, sir, we were airing it out, sir,” Amanda said.
“And filing without their shoes on,” Billy put in.
“Curiouser and curiouser,” Dr. Smyth said.
“So, what did you need, Dr. Smyth?” Lee asked, trying to change the direction of conversation.
“The Russians want to come for a visit with Ronnie. I want you to get a security team organized by the end of the week,” Dr. Smyth said plainly, “Your preliminary team report should be on my desk by the end of the day.”
“That’s only half an hour!” Lee complained, consulting his watch. The readout came to 4:30.
“Sometimes you have to put in long hours, Scarecrow, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill nine to five job, you now,” Dr. Smyth pointed out snidely.
Lee nodded his head in acknowledgement.
Satisfied, Dr. Smyth left the room. Billy looked both of them over again, but left without finishing the conversation he’d started while Dr. Smyth was gone.
After two minutes and some heavy eye rubbing on both agents’ accounts, the two cleaned up the vault from their romantic escapade.
“I told you we should have gone home,” Amanda pointed out.
“Yea,” Lee grumbled.
”You were right though.”
“About what?”
“We got caught, but we didn’t get fired,” Amanda said, rubbing Lee’s neck and giving him a kiss.
“I think I would rather be fired than caught again,” Lee whined.
“Do you think we should let Billy in on our secret?” Amanda asked.
“Nah, not yet,” Lee laughed. There would be more chances to tease Billy, and he wasn’t ready to reveal their secret.
Lee got the preliminary team report done by six, so that he and Amanda go could out to dinner and have some private time before he dropped her at home. The secret marriage was wearing him, but this time, when they made love, they had a lot more privacy, and a lot more success.
Lee supposed he was happy enough, for the moment.
