Review: This series is just absolutely awesome!  The series is drawn well, just as all of Clamp's works are.  It's humorous while being serious and moves along at a good pace.  The story about the persocoms and laptops intregues me.  The idea of laptops being little people talking back in the future is so cool!  The characters are very likeable, well at least to me.  I think this series will appeal to people who like series' like: Magic Knights Rayearth, Cowboy Bebop, and Oh! My Goddess.

Review: Chobits is yet another series done by the all fabulous CLAMP team.  Being a fan of their works, this series interested me.  However, what I immediately noticed about this series was that it was unlike any of the other works of CLAMP.  It's not as sweet and cute like Card Captor Sakura, nor as bloody as X/1999.
This series stands out from all the series'.  The basic plot is about a guy named Hideki who finds a persocom in the trash.  He starts her up and takes responsiblity for her.  He names her Chi, and the two begin the crazy challenges of living together and surviving in the sci-fi world of the future.
The first thing a CLAMP fan would notice about this series is that it has the art style like that of Angelic Layer.  yes, there is much more dark shading than that of Card Captor Sakura or Wish (with the exception of devils of the series).  However, when put in color, the art can be quite wonderful.  For instance, the color covers are not too bad.  Yet, they are not the prettiest I've seen.  Basically, it's just an average work for CLAMP in that case.
Even with the artwork, there are other factors to consider about this series.  One is the many perverted and sexual jokes made.  This is was sort of odd for me because I was used to series such as Angelic Layer and Card Captor Sakura that were aimed for younger audiences.  Then again, CLAMP did some of the jokes here and there in Wish, but the amount can't compare to Chobits.I would not recommend this series for anyone under the age of 10, or 11.  Chi is extremely clueless to modesty in the beginning of the series to the point where she does not wear clothes in certain scenes.  I also mentioned there were sexual jokes mentioned here and there.  One reoccuring joke is that Hideki is constantly made fun of his virginity by his friends.  It sparks up some humor here and there for audiences.  Also, be prepared to see some underwear in some volumes.  So, all you manga underwear fans, this is a real treat for you!
There is also a good amount of a Sci-fi sense.  Yes, the series does not portray an entirely different world like Star Wars, but does portray the theme of "do robots have feelings?"  Hideki is constantly wondering if Chi can feel emotions, and so are the others.
Drama with a style of "Soap Opera" also occurs in this series.  There are love problems everywhere, family issues here and there, and of course the whole "Is he right for me?" issue going on with Chi about Hideki.  If you are a fan of these type of situatuions, you'll definately dig this series!
Basically, this series serves a little of almost everything to a manga fan like myself.  This series is one of CLAMP's most unique series' ever!  It aims for a more adult view to manga than Card Captor Sakura and Angelic Layer.  It's a great series for all Clamp fans and non-CLAMP fans alike.  It's an enjoyable read for teenage and adult comic fans!
