February 19/02/08 - Flicker Alley is releasing an exciting five disc DVD on March 11 entitled GEORGE MELIES - FIRST WIZARD OF CINEMA. The set will include 173 films, as well as Georges Franju's 1953 film LE GRANDE MELIES. Of further interest, Flicker Alley has also recently released a collection SAVED FROM THE FLAMES, which contains a selection of films by Melies and his imitators (as well as Chomon's copy of A TRIP TO THE MOON). December 28/12/05 - It appears that Charlie Chaplin was a fan of Melies, whom he called "the alchemist of light". Here is a production still of Chaplin on the set of MONSIEUR VERDOUX (1947) reading Georges Melies Mage et Mes Memoires par Melies, 1945 PRISMA (buy it here). Take a look! September News: 26/09/05: According to imdb.com, the 1899 Melies film CLEOPATRE, which had been presumed lost, has been found in France. It was reported by Agence France Presse on September 22.
