The Four Troublesome Heads
aka: Un Homme de Tete, The man with Four Heads.
Time: 1 min.
Year 1899
Synopsis: Melies arrives and takes off his head and places it
on a table. He grows a new head, takes it off, and places it next to the
first one (continuing this until he has grown a fourth head). He then plays a
banjo and sings with his heads.
Though an early and very short film, the result is nothing short of astounding. You could probably call Melies' technique of super imposition "Black Magic", as he used black backdrops to ensure that that any light he super imposed would appear on film.
