About MELINA

MELINA has been performing and teaching the ancient art of Middle Eastern Dance since 1980. Because of her artistic and refined programs, her performances have been enthusiastically received, at numerous nursing homes, retirement centers, senior citizen centers, restaurants, festivals, shopping malls, 4-H clubs, golf tournaments and various civic and service organizations throughout Bucks, Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

In 1994, she appeared on Lancaster County's WGAL LIVE television program promoting LancasterFest "94 at which she performed that year. She performed again at the same festival in 1998. In November of 1998, she was interviewed on " WOMEN SPEAK with JILL BROWN", a local half hour television program on the Blue Ridge Cable Television network. From 1995-1997, she performed at the Turkey Hill Ice Cream Festival benefiting the Lancaster County Libraries.

More recently, she has developed a program designed specifically for children from ages 2-5 entitled "Melina's Magic Carpet Ride". She has presented this program at various libraries, Girl Scout Troops and nursery schools throughout Lancaster, Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Her program introduces children to the ancient art of Middle Eastern Dance, music and culture of the Middle Eastern people, thus replacing misconceptions with informed concepts for this art form that is steeped in antiquity. Along with teaching and performing, she is also a workshop and hafla sponsor.

Melina is also an accomplished seamstress and designer and makes all of her own costumes. She also designs costumes for her students, dance troupe and others. In addition, she designs and creates costumes for "Barbie" and "Ken" dolls. Click on Melina's e-bay to view additional items for sale.
