I grew up in Hampton, Va. After attending Longwood University for 18 months, I decided to leave school and move to Richmond in 2001. I lived with my good friend Travis and my then boyfriend, Duane. In June of 2004, Duane and I bought a house in Chesterfield Co. and that same month, he proposed. We were married at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on July 2, 2005. We are active together in the SCA, within our barony, Caer Mear and within our kingdom, Atlantia. Below you can find my persona's biography. |

Melisent was born in 1133 in Chinon, France. Her father chose to place her in the service of Queen Eleanor in 1145, to curry favor with his Monarchs and to see his daughter raised up well. Melisent grew up in the courts of France and visited Aquitaine with her liege lady, always eager to serve. When Eleanor rode out with her husband on Crusade, Melisent was included in the entourage of women. Traveling to the Holy Land was dangerous, and the women were resented by the soldiers, clerics, and even the camp followers who traveled with the army, but the ladies banded together, forming close friendships, and had a grand time on their adventures, despite the hardships and dangers of traveling in Outremer. During their travels, Melisent became close friends with Eleanor, and became fiercely loyal even as her Lady's marriage to King Louis began to unravel and evil rumours began to spread about Eleanor. On the return trip, Eleanor and Louis stopped in Rome and met with the Pope. He encouraged them to put their differences behind them and to try again to produce an heir to the throne. Soon after returning to France, Eleanor bore another daughter to Louis, and shortly there after, their marriage was finally disolved. Almost immediately, Eleanor married to King Henry II of England in 1154. To this day, Melisent remains a loyal servant of the Queen. |
