Last night I witnessed the second grassfire in two days. I thought the first one was big, ha! The first one was human error, my bf put a giant bottle rocket into an artitlery shell launcher and it tipped over, sending the rocket straight into the thick brush that covers any unfarmed land in the south plains.  The grass ignites like gasoline. That fire we were able to put out ourselves, even though it got in my mind pretty big, several yards across in any direction. Nobody got hurt, and to my knowledge no animals were harmed, thank goodness.  But last night, wow, it was further from the house and this time it wasn't our fault.  I was standing outside watching a storm roll by, I didn't believe it would hit due to the direction the storm was coming from and the fact that there were NO CLOUDS in that direction.  There was lightning everywhere though. I love looking at storm clouds, the ones last night were beutiful and the lightning was brilliant.  It struck very near the only neighbor's house so my bf made me go inside, the second I went in the power flickered off. Then a few seconds later, another lightning bolt struck very close to the house I was in, right by the power lines, the power flickered on for a brief moment, and back out again permanently.  As my bf looked out the window at the storm he noticed a small fire within a mile from the house, I ran to another window to notice the fire had already grown exponentially.  Apparently the lightning had struck in the CRP field, CRP is some acromym that is used for land that is used to farm, but in an effort to replenish the soil, it is not being farmed for several years.  It was spreading very quickly so I called the fire department, there was no way we could put this fire out like the one the other day.  A few minutes later the fire department made it out, by now the weather was taking a frightful turn, the wind was so strong and was blowing so much dust I couldn't see the barn 40 yards away, I could tell the fire was still burning.  Then all of a sudden the sky opened up and started to pour.  It rained harder than it had rained in a very long time.  Before the fire fighters could actually get to the fire it was completely out.  If I learned anything from this, it is, mother nature has an unbelievable ability to refresh the land, bits at a time, as I have always understood that plants always grow back better after the land has burnt.  My bf, his brother, and I walked out as the storm passed and darkness was setting, we went to the burned area looking to see exactly where the lightning had struck, we were hoping to find the fabled glass of the lightning strike, we were unsuccesful however, but I did take note that I could see no carcasses, so again, no animal casualties that could be found, that is something to be thankful for.  Back to the things I usually talk about.  Ok maybe I tend to overanalyze situations and get upset when I don't hear from someone in several days, I think they are mad at me, then I get mad and upset and when I finally get to talk to the person,  they have no clue why I am so upset with them.  This is a definate downfall.  This page gives me a lot more room to keep on adding on to my torrent of emotions.  I hope you keep checking back for more additions.
my new picture page now has pictures!!

I hope you all enjoyed the pictures I put up, I have a much better time in front of the camera when I can see the results before I take the picture, and I don't have to save it if it looks bad.  Most of my school pictures and snapshots are terrible, I have a weird facial expression, or they tried to make me smile, I don't have  a very nice smile.  I am hungry for people to sign my guestbook, please do so!
As if this weren't enough I have a new page here!
