Harv was sitting on the floor of the bank, in shock, of all the rotten luck, they would have to rob my bank! He was thinking on how quiet it had been for so long, and now this. Get through a few days without any of the duress of robberies, fires, or murders, and getting so much extra work done, now this. Where did my kharma go so bad? Well, at least he had one consolation, Nash and Joe would have to be on their way, so he would not be alone in this.

Nash and Joe looked at each other, “See, I told you. Never say the ‘Q’ word, it jinxes us, and our fellow officers!” Joe looked guilty, “I know Nashman, I never meant for it to come to all of that, it slipped, I won’t do it again, I swear!” Nash pulled up to the bank, looking for any sign of anywhere they could get a view of what was going on inside. He spotted a window, and he and Joe went over to it, he did not like what he saw. “Six of them, and none of them traveling light here Joe, and Harv is in the middle of it all.” Joe groaned, “Never again, I am taking the ‘Q’ word out of my vocabulary from this day on.”

Harv was sitting in the middle of six others, looking around for anything he could possibly use, anything that could help him in this situation. Had it been that long since he was in something this deep? All he could do at that moment was wish his partners were there, together they could have figured something out…. Now he knew what the problem was, everyone was too close together, he was sweating, sweat pouring off of him, the claustrophobia was kicking in with record speed. Come on man, he thought, get a hold of yourself, this is not the time. He had to start trying to keep the others calm to take his mind off of what was going on, and how close they all were to him.

Nash was getting nervous, “Joe, we have to get some back up in here, Rachel and Antwon need to be here; we have to get those people out, without anyone getting hurt, and as soon as possible.” Joe was already dialing, nodding his agreement, “Can I ask them to bring some alka-seltzer, and some water? I ate way to much, and don’t want to announce myself before we ever get in there.” Nash was shaking his head, trying to keep his mind clear, looking for something that could give him a clue of what exactly was going on in there. “You should ask them for some beano as well.” Joe looked up, not sure how to take that, and saw the small smile on his partner’s lips. He grinned, feeling like maybe it was not going to be as bad of a day as it was showing it might be.

Antwon grabbed Rachel, “Come on, Nash and Joe are at the First National, and Harvey is in there, as one of the hostages.” Rachel looked up in shock, “Harvey? Well, I am glad that I did not have to go to the bank today.” They both piled into the SUV, Antwon throwing it into gear, “Yeah, would make you wonder if maybe it was time to change banks, or lunch breaks.” They pulled up to the bank, seeing the cuda, but not Nash or Joe. “Where are they?” Antwon was not happy, “how are we supposed to help if we don’t know where they are, and where all of the action is?” Rachel noticed the side of the building where the window that Nash had noticed was. “Maybe they went over there to see what was going on.” Moving in that direction, they both saw Nash and Joe.

Harv was starting to have serious flashbacks to Evan’s death, seeing all of those guns, and not being able to use his, with it still being in the car. He was starting to get numb in his lower extremities, they were not allowing anyone to move around at all. He felt like he would explode if he could not move, and to make matters worse, he was feeling mother nature starting to make her call. Should not have eaten that moo-goo-gai-pan, is not sitting well here at all, he thought, and if they don’t let me move, we are all going to have a problem. He looked to his left, and immediately forgot his problem, the lady sitting there, her face screwed up in obvious pain, was to say the least, hugely pregnant, and from the looks of it, all of this had started her labor. Oh man, he thought, I have never been there to see a baby born, let alone know what happens to a woman while in labor. How do I keep her calm, and make sure we are not killed in the process? Looking at her, she noticed him and tried to smile, that contraction was over, but the next one was not far behind. He could see it starting and thought, here we go! Now why did I refuse birthing 101?

Nash was looking at the scene, and found a loophole, “Joe, if we can get in over here, we can come up behind the robbers, and try to unarm them. We will have to be quiet, and split up so all bases are covered.” Joe was looking at the opening, and said, “Who is going first? I don’t want to be behind Twon, never know what I will find.” Antwon looked at him, “Not cool Joe, and I would never want to be behind you after all of that MSG I watched you ingest.” Nash turned and gave all of them ‘the look.’ “ Don’t make me put you in separate corners here, we all need to get in there, with as little complications as possible.” Joe looked up, “What did I do? All I said was I did not want to be behind Twon.” “Let’s go, all of us, I will go first!” Nash was not in the mood, everything in the bank could go haywire at any moment.

Harvey was starting to get desperate, this woman was going to need some help, and fast! “Hi, I’m Harvey,” he figured trying to get her to talk to him would help her some. She was getting through another contraction, sweat dripping off of her forehead, “ Allison, but most people call me Ellie, long story.” He could see the next contraction was intensifying with more speed than the last one. “Hold onto my hand, and try to breathe.” She grabbed onto him with an iron grip, panting, nodding at him. He felt something on his leg, oh man, he thought, her water just broke, this baby is coming now, whether we want it to or not!!!

Nash motioned for everyone to stop, watching two of the gunmen pace around right in front of him. He could hear them talking. “That bitch is going to have that baby right here, and that cop is playing hero.” The second one nodded, “Yeah, maybe we should let her go, and kill him!” Nash clamped his jaw at that comment, trying to keep from shooting him right then and there. He motioned for Joe, “Harv has his hands full, she is about to deliver over there, so we need to get this done and now!” Joe looked up, “What a birthday!! In the middle of the robbery, with guns and psychos all around. Happy birthday to you!” Nash put his finger up to his lips, nodding, and motioned for Antwon and Rachel, “Here’s what we are going to do………………..”

Harvey was helping Ellie lay down, she was panting at a tremendous rate, her face and upper body covered in sweat. She was grunting, feeling the urge to push, “I need to push,” she grunted, and Harv was nodding. “I know, I know, we are going to do this together, and you and the baby will be just fine.” She was starting to tense up her legs, the contraction starting, and she could feel the baby moving down even more, “Oh my, I need to push right now!!” “Ok, ok, you push, come on, one, two, three…” He was watching her, and saw the head emerging from between her legs, wow, it was incredible!! “Wow, keep it up, here it comes!!” She was gasping for air, “He, he is coming, it’s a boy. Oh here comes another one!!” Harv helped her lean up a bit, “You are doing great, come on, let’s get him out!!” She gave two more hard pushes, and her son spilled out into Harvey’s arms, he could not stop the tears of amazement that were forming in his eyes, this was incredible!! He quickly took off his outer shirt, and wrapped her son in it, and handed him to her. “Congratulations, here is your son.” She had a glow on her face, “Thank you, Harvey, I would not have been able to get through this without you.” Harv shrugged, “Ahh, you would have been just fine.”

Nash and the others were in position, after looking over the scene once more, Nash looked at them all, they all nodded, and he did the count, One, two, three!! “FREEZE, SFPD!!!!!!!!!!!” All of them were shouting, and tackling the men they had been near, keeping them from hurting any of the hostages. Once Nash and Joe had the ones they caught cuffed, they went to get the other two men. They turned the corner, to be met with two men running the other way, and toting guns and money with them. “Freeze!” Nash was running up to them, Joe on his heels. One of them decided to try and shoot at them, and Nash landed him on his back for the move. “Damn, was hoping to make this out clean.”

Back at the SIU, Harvey was laughing on the phone, “No way, you didn’t that to the  poor kid!!” He hung up, shaking his head, “You guys are not going to believe this, the lady I helped in the bank just called. She and her husband named their son Harvey!” Everyone started laughing, with Harvey shaking his head.
