Roadster Rage By: Kathy Saxon777 |
Evan checked his reflection in the security mirror of the convenience store. “Harv, you’ve seriously got to look into getting another car.” “What?” Harvey leaned back as he pulled out a few bills from his pocket to pay the cashier. “What’s wrong with the Roadster?” Evan gave him a withering glare. “It’s a Barbie doll car.” “It’s environmentally friendly,” Harvey argued, then hesitated. Somehow that old argument just didn’t sound as convincing anymore. Of course, Evan’s real reason for wanting to get rid of it was just as lame. “You don’t like it because it messes up your hair.” “Do you have any idea how long it takes to get this look?” he shot back. “About the same amount of time it takes the average person to finish a seven course meal?” Harvey gave the cashier a wink when she laughed, then gathered his change and purchases. “Look Ev, to tell you the truth, I was thinking about getting one of those new PT Cruisers. Have you seen those?” He received a nod as they walked out of the store. “It’s a toss up between the silver and the blue. That is one beautiful ride. I’m telling you man, that’s the classic car of the future.” Harvey and Evan both stopped in their tracks when they saw a stunningly attractive, buxum blond leaning over the door of the Roadster. “I take it back, Harv,” Evan said with conviction. “I take it all back.” They both started toward the car when the vision turned in their direction and waved. “I don’t see a release,” she said. Harvey and Evan stepped aside quickly when the door to a van next to them opened and the hulking figure of a man got out. The side door on the van slid open and three more giants stepped out. Harvey was just about to tell the men that he would move his car when Evan stopped him. He was curious to see what they would do. Harvey and Evan stood in stunned silence as the four men picked up the tiny car and turned sideways. The blond bombshell hurried back to the van and easily pulled out of the parking space, then the four men returned the car to its original position. Harvey and Evan exchanged a long look as the van drove off, then they stepped over to the curb. “Taxi!” |
