Is there an episode of Nash Bridges that you would like to see a different ending to? Or a sequel to?  Have you always wondered what happened to the squirrel that got loose on the barge?  Is there a particular holiday episode that you would like to see?  What story line would you like to see go more in depth?  Is there a semi-regular character that you would like to see featured in a story?  Or a pairing that you think would be interesting?  The more obscure or outlandish the better.

Send in your ideas and see if you can spark a creative muse in one of our writers.  Try to be as descriptive as possible, but be brief.  All story ideas will be posted here at The Embarcadero Station and a link will be created to the completed story when a response is received.

This is an ongoing challenge!
Think you can handle it bubba?
1. Please word your challenge carefully. If the challenge is too vague, it's hard to get a story going. Be brief (in other words, leave some blanks for the author taking the challenge to fill in), but be descriptive.

2. Only general challenges are accepted. Story ideas that include graphic sexual content, disturbing violence, or anything else that would cause a story to be rated NC-17 or above should not be submitted here. Our server does not allow adult content.

3. Please do not submit writing tips, questions about the show, or in any way refer to a particular story, author, or challenge in a derogatory fashion. This is meant to be a supportive and learning experience.  The writers are here to have fun as are the readers.  Creative people tend to be a little sensitive, especially about their work.  Please keep that in mind when communicating our writers in any way.

4. Give the writers time to answer your challenges.  Sometimes the story just flows while others take a great deal of thought.  One of your story starters may even be privileged enough to get the attention of the Nash InterActive group where multiple writers will tackle your challenge.  If you would like to be contacted when your challenge has been answered, please include your email addy at the end of your submission so that the author can contact you to let you know it has been posted.

Authors: If you write a story in answer to one of these challenges, please indicate which challenge you are answering in the subject heading when submitting it.

Copy and paste your submission into an email if at all possible.  With so many viruses around, I’m wary of all downloads.

We would also like to ask that you proofread & spell check before it gets sent to us. We are not editors.. All work will be posted exactly as you send. So make sure your work is looking its best!

In the episode "Power Play", Evan and Harvey have to do some quick thinking to cover their butts after Evan blows a hole in the roof of Watch Commander Pommerance's car.  Suppose she found something in the car?  Maybe she finds a few shotgun pellets or notices something a little different about the car, whatever.  Does she find out that it was Evan and Harvey that "borrowed" her car?  What does she do to make their lives miserable?  In the ep, she obviously had the hots for Nash...and he wasn't too thrilled.  What's Nash's reaction if she suddenly starts hanging around the SIU?  This one has a lot of potential for humor.<G>
What happened to Cassidy after she left the SIU? Does she stay in Paris? How will Nash feel about being separated from his daughter? OR, if she comes back, what next? Will she return to College? Does Lisa move back to San Fransisco with her? How would this affect Nash's relationship with his ex-wife?
I'd like to see a story that delves deeper into Antwon's past. Does he have a family? Are they supportive of his career choice given his medical condition? How has his epilepsy affected his home life? love life? career?

I'd like to see an alternate ending to "Get Bananas".  In one scene, Evan and Harvey are on stakeout and they have an argument.  Evan leaves Harvey alone in the car.  Suppose something had happened and Harvey had had to deal with it alone?  All sorts of things could have gone wrong.  Later in the episode, Baptiste's men had trashed Harvey's apartment looking for the stolen money and to make a statement.  What if Harvey had been there when they'd come?  Or what if Jerry had been there with Harvey, or a babysitter?  There are a lot of different ways that episode could have ended.  How would you have ended that episode?

How does Rachel become a part of the SIU following her betrayal?  Who has the hardest time accepting her back into the unit?  Harvey?  Joe?  Who becomes her biggest supporter?  Does anyone refuse to work with her?  Will the SIU become threatened when people start taking sides?  Can Harvey and Rachel stay friends?
What happened to Tamra van Zant?  Did she die after getting shot?  How did they find her body?  Does Nash have trouble dealing with her death?  Is he devastated?  Guilty?  Do they find her killer?  OR, did she manage to survive?  How?  Does her near death experience change her in any way?
It seems like every time Joe and Harvey get together, trouble happens.  Kelp cures for Nash; shrinking shoes for Bettina; getting locked up in a prison cell; burning down Joe's house; handcuffed together on a BART train...and they tend to bicker a lot, too. <G>  How about a story pairing up Joe and Harvey?  Does Joe get Harvey involved in a scheme?  Are they stuck working a gig together?  Maybe paired up during a prolonged surveillance?  How about it?
With all of the women that Nash has been with, I find it hard to believe that Cassidy is the only kid.  What I want to see is someone from his past turn up with a bundle of attitude from a night with Nash.  I can see Nash being totally out of his element for a change.  But I don't know about Cassidy or Stacy or even Nick how they would react.  That was the problem with the later Nash show's.  Not enough family.
I want something with AJ back on the force.  He could fly into SF on a case he's working on for the Hawaii police or something.  I'd like to know what he has been doing since leaving SF.  He's a cop with goals.  Where have those goals taken him?
I would like to see a story with Bryn Carson AND Michelle Chan in it together.  Maybe one where Bryn is training Michelle.  Both got attitudes.  The interaction between them could be funny or very confrontational.  Michelle has a lot to learn, but would she be willing to learn it from Bryn?

If you could choose to write an alternate version of an episode, or write an episode sequel, which ep would you choose?

"Night Train" - Suppose Evan hadn't been able to slip Joe that gun.  How would things have turned out?

"The Web" - All sorts of things could have gone wrong in this ep.

"Down Time" - What if Bettina forcing Nash on vacation hadn't been so humorous?  His bungling could have resulted in something serious.

"Special Delivery" - Suppose Nash and Joe had been just a few minutes late arriving at Lisa's apartment?  What would have happened to Evan and Harvey?  Or Lynette and her boyfriend?

"Sacraments" - Well, okay, we just all hate the way that one was handled.  Harvey didn't get a whole lot of sympathy after getting shot.  In fact, he was back on the case the next day.

"Gimme Shelter" - Suppose Harvey didn't know his friend as well as he thought in the scene in Bobby's office?

"Boomtown" - Plenty of chances for the bomber to get the upper hand in this one.

"Cat Fight"-Harvey was pretty scared in the robbery at the Phil Lesh concert, and rightly so.  What if it had ended differently?

"Hot Prowler"-How did everyone handle the aftermath of Michelle's death?  What if she hadn't been killed?

"Get Bananas" - Two good places for altnernate endings in this one due to Evan's screw-ups.  Plus, after it was all over, how did Harvey react?

"Jackpot" - No need to mention anything here.  We all know what could be changed, or added to in this one.<G>

Let's see how the fans would've written the show.<G>
Due to the growing popularity of the writing challenges,  we (MelKat) have decided to revise our policy concerning Writer’s Block and Embarcadero Station.

In the past, we have been firm in our resolve that any story using one of Hyde Street Station’s story starters must be posted on HSS.  Our goal was to create a hub of Nash Bridges stories and we feel as if we’ve succeeded.

Now, in an effort to expand, we want to ease that restriction to allow the authors to post their own stories on their web sites.  All that we ask is that you also post a link on the story page back to Hyde Street Station.

Of course, we would be honored if you choose to allow us to post your stories on HSS!  We simply want to give people the option and, hopefully, attract more fans to the site.

THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SIU ORPHANAGE!  Copyright issues would be involved with the fans who originally generated the story and passed it onto HSS.  Only the original authors have the right to post stories from the SIU Orphanage on their sites.
Again, all that we ask is that you use a link back to Hyde Street Station.

If you would like to use one of our classy HSS buttons, all you need to do is ask!  We’d love to share the gifs with you.  If you want to make one that is better suited for your web page, feel free!

If you have any questions or concerns,
JUST ASK!

Peace, MelKat
