Wall Hanging
Plastic Canvas Pieces (7 mesh):
     - any size, any shape collection of
       pieces
Yarn Colors:
     - any colors, just pick a suitable color
       palette
***You will also need a collection of small items (toys, seashells, wine corks, matchboxes, etc.)***
Assembly:

1. Put together a collection of small items (8-12 items).  For each item, find a piece of plastic canvas big enough for the item to be mounted on.

2.  Fill in the plastic canvas pieces with the yarn and stitch of your choice.  Let the colors of your items guide your yarn color choices.  (For example, don't put a purple item on purple yarn.)

3.  Mount the items on the plastic canvas pieces by first hot gluing them.  Then, if desired, you may embellish with a ribbon or raffia tied around the object (see picture).

4.  To assemble the pieces together, lay the pieces in a pleasing arrangement.  Then connect them using string, ribbon, or wire.  As an added embellishment, put beads on the wire (see picture).  Let the mood of the collection inspire you with embellishment ideas.

5.  Attach the connected pieces to a hanging bar (wooden dowel) using raffia, string, ribbon, wire, etc.  Hot glue small wooden finials to the ends of the dowel for a finished look.
Notice the raffia around the shell, the raffia used to tie the piece to the hanging bar, and the finial at the end of the rod.
I used blue and green glass beads on wire to attach the seashell panels.
Embellishment Ideas:

- Using bright colors (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.), display a child's collection of small toys (cars, plastic animals, etc.).  Use a ribbon in a matching color or pattern to attach the pieces.

- Display a wine cork collection on panels on red and purple tones that mimic the color of wine.  Use purple beads to attach the panels.

- For a Victorian look, display artificial or dried flowers on panels in shades of ivory, rose, and sage.  Connect the panels with multi-faceted beads.
Gift Ideas:

Use this project as a way to capture an event or memory, like a 3-D scrapbook.  Collect items from a trip or event (or ones that will remind you of them) and display them on the panels.  What a great piece of art to help you display your special memories!
