Played our first gig with Joni tonight. Wonderful. I was right about how much fun this was going to be. Even the songs she didn't know that well still sounded great. The crowd loved it .
Also got a technical member of the group. Added a new drum machine that did the job really well. Kudos to Alesis for making a drum machine that rocks.
March 25th
Did I mention that Joni is the marketing manager for her business? I've asked her to help market the group and she has already started volunteering many suggestions that we are currently acting on. It's going to be a lot of work, but it'll be worth it if we can get more people to come to and enjoy our shows.
April 1st
We played the Festival this morning. Had a ball. Beautiful weather. Appreciative crowd. Everything went just as planned. My daughter Alice passed out a few cards while we were playing and everyone agreed we sounded great. On a sour note, we were scheduled to play at Gordon Coffee and Fine Teas tomorrow for the Festival, but Jeff called and canceled citing that they would be slammed and they would need the table space. I do wish he had told me earlier as I announced it several times during our performance. Not exactly sure myself, but oh well. May have to bring our contract into play if we book there again.
April 22nd
We settled on a new name today. We are now officially "Starling." With the addition of Joni, we have evolved musically and so have to grow with that evolution. We're looking for a person to be our promotionist and obtain and maintain a contact list. With that powerful tool, we can increase our fan base and have a lot more fun with more people. Can't wait.
