Wally knocked politely at the back door of Carlino's restaurant.

"Hello, Wally." said Paulina, "Today's specials are lasagna and lobster risotto. What would you like?"

"Lasagna, please." said Wally, "Shellfish gives me hives."

Paulina set a place for him at the kitchen counter. Joe walked in as Wally was eating.

"What's that bum doin' here?" he demanded.

"Joe!" Paulina hissed, embarrassed by his loud mouth, "You know I always send the leftover food to Sister Sally's Mission on the docks. Wally comes every day to pick it up, and I always let him sample it first."

"Oh yeah?" said Joe, making no attempt to lower his voice, "Wanna bet how much of that food actually goes to the Mission?"

"I haven't had any complaints!" said Paulina," Even if Wally does keep some of it for himself - well, he's one of the people I'm trying to help! How are things with you? Have you found any trace of Jasmine?"

"Nah! We searched every inch of the Lumina Buildin'. She's not there."

"Lumina has security cameras all over the place. Don't they show what happened?"

"They all 'mysteriously' malfunctioned, just as the elevator started movin'!"

"Then - Jordan Stark must be behind the kidnapping." said Paulina.

"Right now, I'm more interested in the guy who got mugged. Somebody was real eager to go to that party, and you can bet it wasn't for the canapés."

Meanwhile, Rachel had stopped by Police Headquarters to ask how the investigation was going.

"Lila is so distraught that the doctors are having to keep her sedated, and Matthew isn't much better," she told Josie, "Do you have any clues at all?"

"Right now, we're looking at the security camera tapes from the Lumina Ball." said Josie, "Care to see?" She turned on the vcr. "See - there you are, Rachel, and there - the diagonally striped mask - the man who was assaulted says that was His mask, so that must be the ringer - Rachel?"

Rachel was leaning forward to stare at the screen, lips parted, blue eyes so dilated that they looked black. "Rachel? What is it? Do you see something?"

"Do you - do you think - That Man - kidnapped my grand-daughter?" Rachel whispered.

"Joe thinks he did, but I'm not so sure. How could he have known that Lila was going to give birth in a stuck elevator?"

"That's true." said Rachel, "Thank you, Josie."

Before Josie could ask any questions, she turned and left the room.

Wally left Carlino's with a big basket of leftovers. Halfway down the block, Carl joined him.

"What culinary delights did dear Paulina provide today?" he asked.

"Lasagna and lobster risotto. Want some? It's still warm."

"No, take it to Sister Sally. Her need is greater than mine." said Carl, "Was Remy - as she calls herself - at the restaurant?"

"I didn't see her."

Over at the apartment Remy shared with Sofia, Nick had found his own name on a file in Remy's computer.

"Somebody has a crush on me!" he teased, and clicked the mouse.

"Nick - wait!" cried Remy. Too late. The File appeared, and Nick started to read.

"What the -?" he said, after a minute, "Everything I ever said - or did - or ate -? What IS this, Remy?"

"I - can explain!"

"Okay, explain! And make it good!"
