City Officers Charge John Slack was Murdered | |||||
Cleveland Daily Banner City Officers Charge Slack was Murdered Mrs. Turner named principal and father accessory-both issue denials. Mrs. Ola Turner, 33 year old housekeeper, yesterday afternoon was charged by city detectives with the murder of John Slack a 56 year old employee at the Volunteer Ordinance Works. Slack died at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital at 2:45 PM yesterday of head injuries he received in a mysterious attack in his apartment last weekend. Mrs. Turners father, Ed Bell, 49 of Route 5, was charged with being an acessory to the murder, and a third member of the family Mrs. Turners 18 year old son, Lloyd was also being sought by city detectives last night. Both Mrs. Turner and her father denied the murder charges emphatically last night. Charges of felonious assult has been placed against Mrs. Turner late Monday afternoon after homicide EE Smith conducted a daylong investigation of the case which was not brought to the attention of the police until several days after the attack. In city court yesterday Mrs. Turners case was continued and she was placed under a $5000 bond. The felonious assult charge was changed to murder after Slacks death. Homicide detective Smith would not discuss the case at legnth last night, but indicated that he had new clues which would break the case. |
