Purrumbete has been run & won. The Otway club having strong representation and local knowledge took all before them and scooped the pool of trophies. Our Congratulations to them but look out next year. It was the last time the Melton Club will host Purrumbete, we are hoping that another club will pick up the venue and run with it. It most certainly is an excellent venue to run a convention. Over the past 22 years or so we have seen a lot of work done by various committee & club members in running Purrumbete. Greg Toll is the only member still active in the club, he joined us the second year our Purrumbete Convention was held. To all those past & present members who have participated, we say a job well done. it would be remiss of me not to mention the sponsors. The many and varied sponsors have made Purrumbete possible without them we could not have functioned. To name them all would take pages and I would have forgot some of them, but our heartious thnaks to all that have sponsored the Purrumbete Convention. What is a Convention without anglers, so many over the years, that travelled many miles to be at Purrumbete around the end of October each year to compete, the many clubs from all over Victoria & Interstate that come together to compete, we thank you for your competition. Our good wishes go to Fred & Yogi who will fish the Telbingo Convention on the weekend 11/12 October. Four of us went there a couple of years ago and the Wagga Club showed us a great time. (Ask Fred what his Telbingo nickname is.) Bemm River trip is causing a lot of interest (Melbourne Cup Weekedn) we have 15 going so far some will have to swag it, but have no fear all will be accommodated. The October monthly meeting was well attended it was a good meeting lets keep it up, there's always something to discuss. Now for the job I like most - welcoming new members. Daniel, Corryn, Karly, Josh & Jade Carroll, have finally succumbed to Rambo's pressure & joined. This has swelled our ranks & I hope the Carroll Family will join in & enjoy what our club has to offer. "Keep on fishing" Barry Mason |
