About this site.
On
this site are stories written by me. It became kind of an second hobby I guess.
Thus far I've only
written stories about the Imperial Guard and other titbits about the oh-so
lethal future. But I'm planning to write several
stories, including one that involves a lot of my classmates. They will most
probably appear in two or three versions, each with their own respective twists
and settings. While one may be the classic fantasy of damsels and dragons, the
other might be war torn fields of razor wire and lethal cross fires.
This
site is also the home of my Cadian Imperial Guard army, named the Irregulars for
their ad-hoc structure and use of rabble like units. Through out the years of
collecting and painting miniatures I've never really found my style. That was
until the release of the new plastic Cadians and the release of the new Imperial
Guard codex. Thanks to these additions my army is finally bulking out and
shaping into the killing machine I want it to be. This site will feature some
reports on the progression of my army and how much of the army list I have.
About
me.
My name is Melvin Brookman and I’m twenty years old. I live in the Netherlands
(in Europe, bordered by Belgium and Germany). My hobbies are reading, gaming and
Warhammer 40.000, in which I've been interested a long time ago, but abandoned
until I learned of a completely different army apart from the Space Marines.
Imperial
Guard.
Several years ago an old friend of mine showed me the Third edition Imperial
Guard codex and immediately I was sold. After buying the codex I've started
modestly with a Steel Legion lieutenant mini and a Steel legion heavy bolter.
From that point my army slowly grew until this day. I've become some what of a
fanatic when it comes to faith in the Imperium and in general banter against the
Imperial Guard. I've chosen them not only because they looked great, but also
because they are truly human! Just like you and me, no fancy genetic
enhancements, power armour and god-like weapons, just a shirt on your back, a
lasgun in your hands and the gut into it! Since then, I've started to grow a
hatred for Space Marines. Though I respect them and most of their commanders,
the attitude made by GW by making them the most superior race in the Imperium,
who always revered to as Gods in comparison to their weaker and bad working
counter-parts known as the Imperial Guard.
Lt.
Brookman.
My counter part on the table top is also named after me, but unlike many players
I've elected myself as a mere Lieutenant who leads a platoon, not as a Senior
Officer that commands an entire Company. Seeing as Guard commanders are the most
wanted targets on the list and almost always kick the bucket in close combat
with enemy commanders and assault troops, my character is more of an anti-hero,
decked out with medals and weapons, but not willing to risk his neck for anybody.
