Dan, Nancy, Gina & family  ~   made a trip home (birthplace)in July 2000 for a reunion on Nancy's dad's side.  I did not get to see them (I had the flu!)  They traveled through Tennessee to visit for a few days with our sister Cynthia and our brother Len.  They live about 4 hours from each other.

My husband and I took a small vacation to New Mexico in March 2000 to visit my two brothers and their families.  We had a great time while there. We took two of our grandchildren, Tiffany and Weldon along with us.  Our daughter Misty, husband Earl, two boys, Cole and Timmy went a week earlier to California and then on the way back they met us in NM.

Misty and Larry went up for a ride in a hot air balloon and then Nancy (my sister-in-aw) and I went up after them.  I always said I was going to keep my feet on the ground, but it looked like a lot of fun.  And YES, it was fun.  The landing was quite unlike I expected.  When Larry and Misty landed, they kind of bumped around, but when Nancy and I landed, our basket actually flipped over on its side, came back up and flipped once more and came back and then it decided to stay on its bottom.  Actually, I thought the landing was as much fun as the ride itself
:  ) Would I do it again??  Probably!!  Then we all went down to Santa Fe to sightsee.

While visiting NM, Larry and I and the two kids stayed at my brother Dan and Nancy's home.  Misty, Earl and the boys stayed at Gina (D & N's daughter) and Tim's home.  We spent a couple of days with them.  Then we went and spent a day with my brother Jim, his wife Mary, and their family.  Most of us went to lunch at a buffet. I picked up some soveniers of Route 66 from the adjoining gift shop.

When it was time to leave Jim and Mary's that evening, it was hard to go - it took us about two hours to say goodbye before we left.  Misty and Earl left NM that night so they could stop at Carthage MO the next day.  They wanted to take pictures of the boys with the Precious Moments sculptures. We left NM the next morning to make our way home.

We made a stop in Groom TX to look at the tallest cross in the western hemisphere.  It was really neat.  It has actual lifesize bronze sculptures showing the condemning of Jesus before Pilot until His resurection from the tomb.  Right now though, they are four sculptures short.  The sculptures are being made in Amarillo.  They say the entire site will be completely finished in approximately two years.  I want to go back and see it when it is finished.  But even with it unfinished it is really something to see.

Tiffy and Weldon enjoyed theirselves on this trip also.  It was a short trip, but I would have to say it was worth it.  We saw a lot in the short time we traveled.
Trips and Photos of NM & Family
My brother Jim  - I accidently snapped his picture when he was telling us something.  My sister-in-law Mary - she had an abcess on her jaw when this was snapped.  I'm sorry that I didn't get better pictures - but I love them both and I don't mind how the pictures turned out.   I am just thankful that I still have both of them.  (yr 2000)

It is with great sadness that I say that I lost my dear brother Jim in Sept 2003. I know that he is in Heaven with my other family members.
I was able to go to NM for his funeral with my brother Harold (photo below) and his two daughters.

You will see by the following pictures that I took that we don't always pose.  I just snap them.  But that is what family is all about.  Just being our natural selves. But I love them all.  I just want to say Thanks to all my family again for having us and sharing a good time.

This is a snapshot of snow-covered mountains near Santa Fe  NM   We were 20 miles away when this photo was shot.
This is the largest cross in the western hemishpere located in Groom TX  The small X's at the bottom are the life-size sculptures of the Crucifixtion of Jesus.  The cross is 190 feet tall.  There is also one now located in southern Illinois near Marion by a different organization.  You can visit the website for this cross @   www.skybusiness.com/thecrossministries
