The first broadcast of the Memories Of Elvis Show occurred on WVLT on Saturday night, Sept 22, 2001 as a trial show filling in for the vacationing Skip Wisener and his Lost 45's radio show. Following this, Bud Francis encountered several months of medical problems before returning on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 in the time slot of 10:00 until 11:00 PM. In October Bud switched to Thursday from 9:00 until 10:00 where he can currently be heard. The format of the Memories Of Elvis Show is "the other side of Elvis". Bud likes to play the rare songs that most other Oldies Stations don't play. Rehearsal and alternate takes, and especially songs Elvis performed live in concert from 1970 to his death in 1977. Bud Francis is employed as an Avionics Project Engineer and has been with the same company for over 30 years now. Bud did not really become an avid Elvis fan until after his death, although his interest was peaked in the late sixties when Elvis would record several songs that would re-establish his career as a serious recording artist. When asked what song was most responsible for attracting his attention, he replied "In The Ghetto, it was so different and so unlike Elvis' previous songs." |
