Hi everybody,
Just want to introduce myself so you have an idea of the one who made this website.
My name is Lya and I'm living in Canada at this point in time with my husband and our three children.
We came to live and work here in 1999 from The Netherlands and it would be "forever".
Well, forever only lasted about 3 years as we will move again, this time even to the other side of this world by the end of July, in a city near Shanghai, Taicang.
The only thing I know for sure is that we never will be able to learn Chinese, with its thousands of characters although I think the writing is like a piece of Art.
It will be a big change again; our children will go to an American International School, which is about half an hour driving from Shanghai. Guess we all will have a kind of "culture shock" as China is so different from western cultures, but it will be a great exciting adventure and opportunity. What I don't see to happen is to drive myself in that huge city Shanghai as 13 millions of people in one city is a bit too much and crowded!
I started to create this website in memory of my mother who died on May 1st, 2002 in The Netherlands. After finishing those pages I added some of my poetry I have written during the last couple of years. The poems are both in English and Dutch, so it became a nice mix.
