My Body's Story

My body has a story

That it would like to tell you

So take this time to listen

And find out what it's gone through

No broken bones

No birth defects

There's nothing wrong with me

But looking down

I see the scars

From haunting memories

From broken glass

To brown-tree snakes

To knives across my eye

The battle scars

From a former life

That I'm glad I've left behind

The iron-burned leg

The once stabbed eye

The scars you cannot see

But these aren't bad

They're parts of life

Called, "Sibling Rivalry"

The gravel burn

From skating late

Downtown, one Wednesday night

And from behind

A 2x4

Got me into a fight

But they fucked up

I saw my blood

Now their blood must be shed

Those drunken fools

Didn't stand a chance

'Cause it was me and Ted.

This next one's good

You get to see

The moron trapped within

'Cause it's about

How I came to be

With this knee-brace I am in

I just broke up

With my, now, ex

Just the other day

As she walked in

My only thought

Was, 'Drink the pain away'

So I had a few

Like, three or four

Okay, make that seventy

But the only thing

That I forgot

Was that my name was not Bruce Lee

As I jumped up

Onto the table

My foot began to slide

My leg collapsed

With the sharpest pain

I swear, I wished I died

So now I'm here

With "robo-leg"

And a torn ACL

If it could speek

My body would say

That I've dragged it through Hell

So that's my bodies story

It hopes that you'll come back

I'm off to smoke a cigarette

Untill my lungs are black
