Henry Papworth 31, Elizabeth 30, William 3, Mary E 2 and George aged 1 boarded the ship Calliope on 3rd Feb 1853 and departed from Southampton, England bound for Melbourne. The Calliope was a ship of 733 tons and her Master was T Eagles. She carried 370 Government immigrants plus merchandise as cargo. They arrived in Melbourne on 18 May 1853.

Henry Papworth 1821 - 1904 (buried 16 Sep) son of Robert Papworth and Mary Ann Setchel born at Warboys Huntingdonshire, England, wed c1846 to Elizabeth Johnson 1824 - 1899 (buried 2 Oct) and came to Victoria 1853 with their eldest 3 children. They suffered the shock of 3 daughters dying within a day or so, at Euroke in 1861

Hi Elizabeth Have just seen your page on the Papworth family in regards to Henry Papworth & William Papworth, you have William as the son of Henry. William was the son of Henry's brother Robert who was transported in 1842. Have attached William's birth & marriage records for you to consider. Robert's Father & siblings are recorded in his convict indent which is now available online.
Both were born in Geelong. Annie was aged 19, dau of Catherine Keeleher and Michael Comer a Labourer,
William was a Farmer aged 31, son of Mary Beard and Robert Papworth, and they wed 2 Dec 1876 with the written consent of her father at St Saviours, Gordon in Victoria.
William's birth certificate shows him born at Duck Pond on 10 Sep 1853 and his birth was registered 16 Oct 1853 by his mother, who made a brave effort to sign her name.
Mary's maiden name is Baird, and she is 25 years old, born in Glasgow, Scotland, and married 19 Aug 1850 in Adelaide to Robert Papworth, Bullock driver aged 35 years born in England. They have two daughters, Mary Ann aged 4 and Betty aged 2. Regards Steven Cole
