Hemlock Grange #2051

Granges
Hemlock Grange was organized in 1950 by William Pilgrim and Cecil Vincent.  We received our charter on July 14, 1950.  Our first meetings were held in the Hemlock School.  We met in the school until it was sold; then we met in a private home until the use of Montgomery School was obtained.  We built the first part of our new building in 1956 and a new addition was built in 1965.  In recent years, we have spent much time improving our hall.  We have used our hall to serve out community since it was built.  We held a public barn dance with approximately 100 in attendance and we always donate the use the of our hall as well as a dinner to any family in our community that had a death.  We have always supported the youth work and were honored to have Richard Schultz as a winner in the State Talent Contest in 1964 and then become the Knight of Harvest in 1965.  In 1975, we held a celebration for 25 years Grange activity.  There were approximatly 100 in attendance.  This Grange closed and members joined London and Millbrook Granges.
