New Vernon Grange was organized in 1873, but did not receive its charter until 1875.  The grange had 40 members in 1876 and was very active until 1885.  Between 1885 and 1886, no meetings were held.  In 1886, the grange was reorganized and has been in good standing ever since.  New Vernon Grange at one time ran a store and had a blacksmith shop built.  By 1948, membership had increased for 30 to 109 members.  In 1967, the state took the Grange building as part of its area for Lake Wilhelm.  In the fall of 1967, they began work on the new hall.  In May 1968, they moved into the unfinished new hall.  In the next year, much work was done to the building finished and it was dedicated on September 7, 1969. New Vernon also has an active Junior Grange.  The grange has been very active in Pomona fairs, youth camp, and community activities. They held their 100th Anniversary on Sunday, October 19, 1975.  They served 180 people a meal of barbecue chicken.  They had many antique exhibits and many pioneer demostrations of churning butter, making soap, dipping candles, pressing apples into cider, husking corn, and a mule team even toured surrounding grounds hauling both old and young.  New Vernon Grange celebrated it 125th Anniversary
on May 7, 2000 with a dinner and celebration at the grange hall with many in attendance.
