                           Christmas

Oh, Christmas these days is just one big greed-fest,
Rampantly commercial and TV-obsessed,
These days we've forgotten (and sometimes don't know)
About the boy in the manger all those years ago.

Oh, how Christmas changes the older one gets,
Youth's innocence giving way to regrets;
'Have I bought enough food?  Will he like his present?
Those two don't get on, oh I hope they'll be pleasant....'

Oh, how my heart longs for those Christmases past
The memories of which sadly fade all too fast.
The log-fires, the holly, the walks through the wood,
I remember no more...if only I could...

Oh Christmas, oh Christmas, what's become of you?
You're light years away from the Christmas I knew.
Oh well, that's the way of the world,
c'est la vie,
And I fear that it will continue to be.....
