                       Fin de Siécle Malaise

The cycle of years is renewing again
(Or at least so I've just been informed by my pen!)
And now, as it nears its final few days
I'm suffering from 'fin de siécle malaise.'

There's so much to curse in this world where we live
Where everyone's taking and no-one wants to give.
I'm afraid for the future in so many ways
That I'm suffering from 'fin de siécle malaise.'

I believe now's the time to break free from the past
And forget all the trauma of this century last,
And begin the new year with deeds worthy of praise
That I might escape 'fin de siécle malaise.'

If we all pull together there's so much we can do,
(It's not all doom and gloom, I might reassure you!)
But we first need to get through this self-centred haze
And banish all thoughts of 'fin de siécle malaise....'
