Millennium Doom
'Millennium Doom' is the name of this poem (A quite macabre title, I'm sure you'll agree!) I'm sorry but I fear the way things are going It won't be as great as we think it'll be...
By that time all manner of things could go wrong (A comet, a war, a nuclear attack) Instead of just hopefully pootling along We should be considering ways to strike back.
The laissez-faire attitude may be OK Economically speaking, but I would contest That its use vis á vis the world's problems today May prove cataclysmic, disastrous at best.
In the absence of the kind of changing of thought For which modern society today has no room We may well all go through what 'twas written we ought; The end of an epoch: Millennium Doom.
