                     The Edge Of History

So just because they happen to have made a film about it
That means it cannot possibly be true.
But let me tell you now these are not valid grounds to doubt it,
And I view with pity those of you who do.

The only thing I know is that strange times will soon be here
We store up trouble every single day.
We concentrate on things which matter not, year after year,
I'm sure a coup de grace is on the way.

I don't quite know the form that this event is going to take
(I'm not a seer like our friend Michel!)
But I know that humankind must change its ways for its own sake
Lest it descend into the 'pit of hell.'

I do not for one moment think my warning will be heeded
('Cos who would listen to a bloke like me?)
However, I repeat that drastic change is sorely needed
As mankind stands on the edge of history....
