At about 9 or 10 years of age, my best friend went to her cousin’s and rode her horse. She came home and told me, “Kar – you gotta try this”! So, we went to the riding stable near our house on our bikes and went for a trail ride. I was hooked! I told my dad as soon as I got in the driveway that I needed a horse. Needless to say, my parents didn’t quite go for it… But I had horses in my blood now. We kept going back, learning all we could about horses. Eventually, I went to college – for Equine Management, of course! Then I went back again for Veterinary Technology (takes too long to be a veterinarian, you know). But that didn’t seem to be enough. I wanted to go to school for Equine Massage, too, so I could help horses that were in pain for whatever reason. And speaking of pain – one main cause of that is a poorly fitting saddle. So I decided to learn how to use the Port Lewis Saddle Fitting System. This is a very nice system – it gets you a custom fitted pad for your horse and saddle. Let’s face it – if your horse is sore from the saddle, you can massage all you like, but you need to fix the root of the problem in order to be able to really help the horse. Ever since I was a kid, my dad would do oil paintings. I inherited my love for art and artistic ability from him. I tried all sorts of things – painting with oils, acrylics, watercolors, drawing, doing woodcarving, wood burning and airbrushing. I do lots of different things for people – you can see my work at http://www.artcountrycorral.com |
