Updates on my surgery!!!
Update: 12-25-99

Merry Christmas, everyone!! I had the surgery on Monday, and was out on Saturday afternoon. I feel wonderful. A bit painful if I stretch too much, but I'm walking around much better already. Went to my work to pick up my check since they didn't mail it, and my co-workers have noticed a change already. I haven't weighed myself yet. Going to wait until my first follow-up appointment with Dr. McConnall in January (he's on vacation until then). Thanks again for all your support!

Update: 2-9-2000

WOW! So much has happened to me, and I'm feeling great. Went in to see Dr. McConnall on Jan. 6th, and found that I'd already lost 30 lb's. Whooo-hooo!!! Ended up going to see my PCP last week because of a cold, and found that I'd lost another 20 lb's, so it brings the total weight loss so far to about 50 lb's since Dec. 13th. I look and feel great, and my immune system is actually doing wonderfully. I got over the cold in 3 days instead of 2 weeks.

Update: 2-27-00

Well, my fiance' is home from Saudi Arabia, and I'm 60 lb's lighter. He's noticed (kind of hard not to), and is ecstatic. We are both really happy with the results, and with the fact that ALL the parts of our relationship are working again... (I'll let your imagination work on that one, hehehe
:->).

Update: 4-1-00

Had my first real post-op support group meeting on the coast today. Very uplifting experience. Not too many people showed up, but the ones who were there were great to talk to. A great big thank you and kudos to Olive, who invited us to her beach house for the meeting...

Update: 6-2-00

Well, it's been a while since I updated this, and as I had time, thought to do so now. I feel wonderful. I finally signed up with a gym this last week and had my first workout this morning. I feel GREAT!!!! WOW! I also found out that I have now OFFICIALLY lost 100 lb's since the surgery. HEHEHEHEHE. All I can say is: Pacificare, take that and smoke it in your lead pipe! I found out that my roommate's mom is also going in for WLS July 4th weekend. I will not be going camping, but instead will be supporting my roomie so she doesn't feel quite so stressed out. That's another thing I haven't been. Stressed. And I went camping this last weekend. Had a FANTASTIC time. I am finding there are all KINDS of things out there now for me to do that I couldn't do before, so vocally scorned since I couldn't do them. HA!! I wiggle my fingers at them all. I will be going horseback riding by next summer definately.

So, that's so far the ending of my story.  More updates will come, I'm sure, as I get thinner.  Hopefully, there will be photos to grace the pages of my site, as well.  We'll see.  :-)

OK, so I'm a slacker...  I haven't had time in the last year or two to get stuff updated on my web...  But you know how it goes.  Ya lose weight, ya feel good, ya do a lot of stuff you wouldn't normally do...  You lose a few jobs in the meantime, and scramble to find new ones, and so it goes...  That's pretty much my life for the last couple of years.  But hey, it's been good.  I gained back about 10 pounds, but then lost it again.  I joined a gym, and promptly quit going because my work schedule was so demanding I was too tired to actually eat anything, let alone exercise...  sigh.  On the plus side, Peter and I are finally getting married in September.  Yay!  So currently, I'm working on the wedding stuff, including my dress, which I will be doing after I get offline here.

Also, we have entered into a new phase in our relationship, and we're both actually really enjoying it.  We are officially an open relationship.  For those of you who may have a problem with this, I can only say you don't know what you're missing.  This is not an exercise in who gets the most lays in one week, either.  That's not the point.  The point really was for Peter to show me that I was desireable outside of his sphere.  And apparently he was right.  ;-)  I've always been a bit shy about things, and this has helped me see myself in a totally different light and helped boost my ego to actually "normal" level.  Also a help.

In other news, I got a perm and got my hair dyed, and it looks great.  And once Peter and I get married, I can go to the VA and have them do the tummy tuck I desperately need.  It's either that or my back is going to hold me hostage for ransom...  grrr.

Anyway, if you want more updates on my life, I got a new webpage, for my Note Of The Day.  This is NOT surgery related per say, it's my own online journal.  I update it faithfully every day that I'm home, sometimes twice.  You can get there by clicking the link below.  Happiness to all!
