I remember when our love was so new.
Many lovely hours we spent together,
I thought I’d always be with you.
To me you were the man of my dreams,
The one who would forever have my heart.
At that time my life seemed to be perfection,
I could not conceive we could ever part.
Slowly I began to see a man I’d never knew.
You were no longer that thoughtful loving guy,
And I had my doubts if your love was true.
Time for us to spend together seemed to fade.
At first I tried to regain those happier times,
While hoping this was not a love that was lost.
But out of that great despair I could never climb.
You are now gone and our love I do remember,
For a time I had some lonely days and nights.
However all that was left of love were the dying embers,
So I had to pick myself up and go on with my life.
As I have moved on I found a love that’s new,
A wonderful man who gives his love unconditionally.
