Today
as I entered my daughter Kim's hospital room,
I
was so overjoyed because she gave birth this
very
morning to twins. I was surprised to see
the lady
standing over Kim as she slept. The
lady looked at
me and smiled. Then she was
gone.
My mind wondered back those many
years ago when
I first saw this mystery lady.
That was the same day we
had brought Kim home
from the hospital. She was five
years old and
was suffering from a rare disease. The
doctors
told us they had done everything they could
for
her except trying an experimental drug.
They didn't hold
out much hope the drug would
help because it had never,
been given to a
child so young. They told us to prepare
for her
passing within the next few days. We
brought
her home to die because that was where
she loved to be.
I woke up that night from
a restless sleep and went into
Kim's bedroom to
check in on her . As I opened the door
I saw a
Native American lady, in her native dress,
standing
over Kim's bed as she slept. The lady
looked up at me and
must have seen the
question on my face because she spoke
in a
gentle voice saying, "You don't know me because I
went to the Great Spirit long before you were
born. I am your
great grandmother and my
journey on earth was very short.
The Great
Spirit sent me to tell you your daughter will
have a long life journey and one day many
moons from
today she will be mother to two
babies on the same day!"
Then she smiled at me
and was gone.
I hadn't seen her since but
often remembered that night
before the doctor
told me how by some miracle Kim was
much
improved. Maybe it was the drug or even help from
the divine power but in the days to follow she
began to
get better and soon was completely
well.
As I stood there today, I knew again
that I had a visitor
from the past. She has
returned to let me know her
prophecy about Kim
living a long life and having twins
has come
true on this very day. I said a little prayer
of
thanks for my visitor from the
past.
