Let's Learn about the Computer
Claude Jordan was our instructor for a College Success Skills workshop on using the computer. I wanted to attend this workshop because I didn't really know how to email and use blackboard. Claude taught us that if we wanted to write using our TNCC student email accounts you must press the word "compose," type in the email address you want to send it to, and then type your letter and send it. I know it sounds simple, but I didn't even know that I had to click on the word "compose"to write the email. Claude also taught us how to do an attachment to an email. You can make an attachment of anything such as an essay, PowerPoint, flier, etc. To do this, you first save the document in "my documents" and then give it a name, then click save. Go to the bottom of the email and click on "browse"; when you click on "browse" a window will pop up and you click on the document you just saved. Then click the button that says "attachment," and it will automatically attach the document, and then press the button at the top that says send. Claude also taught us that you can talk into a microphone to type a paper instead of typing it. This is assistive software that helps people with visual or learning disabilities by converting spoken words into typed text.  Claude or someone else in the Student Success office in Hastings Hall can help students to learn how to use it. After attending the TNCC College Success Skills Workshop, I now know how Blackboard and emailing is useful to students.
