Because of work I missed The Network, but made it to my destination in time for the first song of Abhorred. Insert metal growl here. These guys get better and better each time I see them, no waste of talent going on here. And when they broke into Slayer, Reign In Blood, the crowd erupted with everyone joining in and fists in the air in metal synchronicity. Oh yes, John, lead vocals, had a little episode near the end of the set, I mean his head with the microphone. The knocking noise the mic made was so loud, I just sat there and said, "There's going to be some blood.", and I was right. The grooves of the mic were imbedded in John's bloody forehead. Don't worry he is all right and metal will go on as usual, in fact last night was their last show for a while to take time out to record a full length. Hell Yeah, I can't wait for that. Next up the imcomparable Kevorkians Angels. They have been working on new material for a recording session and laid some of the new stuff on us with the first two songs. Very impressive, and makes me just long for more. The end of their set started off with one of my favorite Kevorkians Angels song, My Inner Demons, and everyone, including me, was up front singing along and again all the metalness in the room just consumed you. But as the song was about to end Mark turned to Nick and they changed into a different groove, none other than The Ramones, Blitzkreig Pop, and what a great cover of that tune. Thanks guys, that was great. Here we go, Hirudinea up and ready to rock. This band is just enthralling. The whole package is right there for everyone to suck up. This was only my second time seeing Hirudinea and I really enjoy what I hear and see from them. Oh, I finally got a demo from them too, thank god. Or should I thank the Hounds of Metal. The sweat and music was flowing in time like a river of blood and that was just after their first song. Hirudinea are a force to be reckoned with, I suggest you check them out as soon as possible. On to the headliners, Watchmaker. Insert metal scream here. These guys are so intense that my heart pounds so loud I think it will come right out of my chest. They really have their shit down and the crowd loves them. I really enjoy Brian, lead vocals, facial gesutres while he is up on stage. If you haven't seen Watchmaker, here is a quick description, EVIL - PURE UNINHIBITED EVIL!!! Eyes bulging and teeth looking like they could chop you up in little pieces, evil I tell you. And you know what?, Watchmakers music and lyrics reflect that. Hope my description won't scare you away, because you really need to see them live. So in case you didn't get it from this review, this night of metal, thanks to Joe of NotCommon Records, was GREAT - HEAVY - LOUD - and SATISFYING. If you missed it, I feel sorry for you.
