O'Briens July 5th

Monday night at O'Briens with Misery Index, Arsis, Phantom Limb & Raising Kubrick.

If you thought Monday nights was a time to recoop from the weekend, well my friends you are wrong. Headbanging and moshing is now an acceptable practice for Mondays, especially when you have Misery Index, Arsis, Phantom Limb & Raising Kubrick collectively ripping your head off. Every band this night had something different to bring to the stage and that made for a very metal satisfaction. First up, Raising Kubrick, let's just say what a way to start the night. This band has really come together and their energetic craziness made me really excited to be in the crowd. Raising Kubrick's upcoming cd, The Important Thing is Moral Choice, will be available soon through NotCommon Records, check www.notcommonrecords.com for the release date. Then comes Phantom Limb, the crowd embraced PL like they were Satan's first born and had to be obeyed with every movement. I noticed I wasn't the only one singing along and yelling out for them to play "Shards Of Reality", before they left the stage and Phantom Limb obliged. Wow, I never knew the spawn of satan would take reuqests. Great set and it made me really hungry, so before Virginia bred Arsis hit the stage, I made a dash for Spike's Junkyard Dog. Nothing goes better with a metal show than a Spike's dog. So Eric & John from Abhorred and Peter from Raising Kubrick ran up with me, this was Peter's first exprience of Spike's so we carried on a tradition of entering a new metal memeber to Spike's. Ok back to to the show, whew right on time for Arsis. Holy crap, they are amazing!! I hope they come back to town soon, I'll definitley be at that show. The guitarist was ripping through every note as if that was the only thing in life that mattered. Crazy! Now it's time for Misery Index, and I still can't believe they are playing at O'Briens. The set was awesome metalness. Although the mic went out a few times during the show, Misery Index picked up the slack and carried on. Sparky was no less than great and the crowd sure let them know. A few people were moshing pretty heavily in the middle of the crowd to show their appreciation and all you saw were heads banging in harmony throughout the club. Misery Index, I personally can't thank you enough for playing your first Boston show at O'Briens and can't wait til you come back for more. This night gets a double HORNS UP\m/\m/.
