2001 Metal Fear started back on Saturday 2nd June 2001 a week after Ozzfest 2001. Stephen B. started the band with David B. on that night and the band started under the name Hellbound and a website was started on Homestead but for reasons from Homestead to all free sites at the time, so the site had to be moved onto a different server. The site went onto MSN and then to Geocities.com.and that website is still up and running @ http://www.oocities.org/hellboundrocks. Adam P. and Jade B. came into the band but nothing really happened. Later on in the year Jade left the band and we needed a drummer. Matt C. was brought in to be on drums but the thing was that until August/September nobody had the instrument they was supposed to be playing then Stephen got a guitar in August as an early birthday present which was in September. Back then the band was going to play both Nu-Metal like Slipknot and Mudvayne and Classic Heavy Metal like Iron Maiden and Metallica. Stephen wrote a song in December but no lyrics were added and was recorded by Stephen with no help. The song was probably recorded over unfortunately so no ideas could be got from it for future material.
2002 In April 2002 Matt C. left the band and Karl W. took his place on drums. Kyle C. came into the band early in the year. In early May the band started to move away from wanting to play Nu-Metal covers and felt more like doing the Classic Metal with ideas of mainly covering Iron Maiden, Metallica and Skid Row songs. Later that month Kyle was fired from the band because we didn't like him much and thought he was a prick. On the site it said that we fired Kyle was fired because he couldn't play, but only the odd person in the band could play something as nobody had the instruments. At that time in the band we must've been kidding ourselves on as we kept saying that we were going to have an album or demo out by the end of the year but nothing was likely to happen. From then on it was just Stephen B. on guitar, David B. on vocals, Adam P. on bass and Karl W. on drums.and only Stephen had a guitar or even a microphone. We was going to have Danny W. on guitar to replace Kyle but nothing was actually decided about what would happen to my memory. I September we changed the name of the name of the band as we found out that another band had the name Hellbound. From then we was known as Skab which was a name assembled from the first letters of each of the band members first name and a new website was to be created for the new name and a fresh start and the site was up on 22nd December @ http://www.angelfire.com/band2/skabbed. From then on there was a change of attitude in the band especially for me as I wasn't as positive about the band and wasn't seeing much of a future for it.
2003 From January 2003 nothing much was done at all on the website or overall. The most that happened was a recording of Metallicas 'Nothing Else Matters' which again was recorded over. The band seemed to go downhill but the band was never going up to start with but there was always hope. Then in about February or March we found out that the name Skab was already taken by a German band I think so from there I just started looking for ideas for band names from websites. Nothing happened and one seemed the slightest bit interested in the band other than me which was like the past year and a half so it was only Stephen left with the possibility of David but then he went because the lack of interest. From then I took abit of a different attitude from the one I previously had with the band and then Gifford V. came into the band and we started to come up with names for the band. From 1st April the band reamerged with the name Metal Fear and a new website which probably the most informative and best set out of the three sites. We also went with a different image for the site and with the logo which was influenced by Iron Maidens and Metallicas logo. Since Gifford joined on bass there seems to be more of a future for the band as more seems to be happening song wise and there is more likely to be an album or demo made in the not too distant future but more people are needed to be in the band for the band to start to get somewhere. In November Daron G. came in on drums and Tom P. on the guitar so things started looking up and the band have got their first song up called 'Thank You' which Stephen wrote and is a quite simple song which is liked by quite a few people and from what we know of is everybody that's listened to it.
2004 The beginning of this year started to look promising. There was a full band ready and willing to practice. A total of 4 songs had been written and only 1 practice had been done together as a near complete band in February. Then there was abit of trouble with just 1 practice after with just 3 of us. From that practice we had Gifford having trouble being able to practice because of coursework and exams and revising. So in March he left the band so he didn't hold us back. We finally managed to do a 3rd and 4th band practice in April though they weren't great. Daron got pissed in the 3rd practice and din't play the drums. Before the 4th practice Darron Threatened to leave the band if nothing was done. So In the 4th practice nothing was done because of him. On top of that he left the practice half hour to 40 mins before the end of practice because his girlfriend showed up. So he was kicked out the band in May without him even knowing and talking to him later on he said it wasn't his problem to learn the songs he was asked to learn and other fucking bullshit like that. Which still gets me pissed off. From then we've started searching for a new Drummer and Bass player. After 2 or 3 months Shane was asked to join the band and a few weeks later so was Mel. Finally once again the band has started to pick up and now song are more or less written apart from drums and hoping to get gigs before the end of the year. |
