This is the first of a 6 part (with 16 volumes) series featuring two main characters, Shingo (10 at the beginning) and Kumiko (17). Kumiko feels a deep amount of affection for Shingo because he once saved her from some dogs who had attacked her. Kumiko is very shy and incredibly nice, and she's the sort of person who is looking for a prince. On the other hand, Shingo is friendly, in a rude and obnoxious way. He's the sort of guy who will tell you to shut up if you say just one thing that annoys him. He's still nice though! Seriously. Anyway, the story follows the maturation of their relationship (yes, they do end up going out), and the events around their rather odd relationship. It's incredibly sweet and touching, and its kind of relieving to have such a dramatically different take on a relationship. Note for all the people out there, Kumiko is not a pedophile. You'd have to read it to understand, but please don't take it that way.

As far as artwork is concerned, Yamada's artwork is nice, but not great, at the beginning. Its very messy in the first volumes, but the art developes into playful and very attractive style. The covers for the long series (part 6 in the series), "Otona Ni Naru Houhou", are particularily nice.
