I love Basara.

Just had to get that out of the way... Basara, is, you see, thee coolest manga. It has the kind of story I love, and very beautiful artwork.

Basically, the story is of a girl named Sarasa. Sarasa has a twin brother named Tatara, and when they were born, a prophet said that Tatara was the destined child -- a child whose fate would lead him on the road of uniting the nation and helping his people. This knowledge spread quickly throughout the country, and one young king -- the Red King -- has decided that he, and no other, will be uniting the nation. He goes with men to Tatara's village, and kills Tatara. In her shock and mourning, Sarasa cuts off her long hair, changes her clothes, and claims that she is none other than Tatara, and that the one killed was in reality Sarasa. And so she starts on her journey, trying to hide the truth from others even while she tries to deal with other situations, like falling in love with a rather mysterious man and the sort.

I can't say just how much I love Basara. It's a wonderful, wonderful comic, with good, surprising changes in the pace and story, and it's always interesting. Read it, love it, worship it!
